Advantages: Smells great

Disadvantages: Made me lose control of my mop

Recently I wrote a review out on what happened when I bought my own shampoo (its now stored on my laptop as Dooyoo still haven't added it!) Anyhow I'm back now to using whatever ends up in my bathroom, kind courtesy of my Mother.

I've written before how my Mother buys whatever is on offer of the decent brands in the supermarket and we have ended up with some rather 'unusual' choices to say the least! So when this one turned up I'd seen the advert and thought why the heck did she think this is ok for me I'm only 33?! The women in the adverts are 50 plus! Mum is 62, it's ok for her but what about my lovely locks lol

Well after the disappointment of my own purchase of shampoo and conditioner I bought my self for just under £10.00 I thought I better bite the bullet on this one and recoup my losses!

Packaging Of Pro Age Conditioner....

It comes in a 250ml dark red recyclable bottle. It clearly states on the bottle what it is and who it is by and on the back tells us what it is for and how to use to use it. The liquid itself is white in colour and you have to squeeze the bottle to get it out. Its not to thick but certainly not runny. It has the usual fresh soapy smell of all the Dove products and therefore suitable really for male or female usage

The Promise....

Light weight conditioning serum wraps each hair fibre to protect your hair from breakage and prepare it for your styling routine.
Leaves your hair looking fuller & thicker.

To Use....

Well stick it on ya head after shampooing it once or twice apply it to wet or damp hair and leave it on a minute or two (its not rocket science eh lol!)

My Experience....

Well I used it after the shampoo in the shower tutting to myself about another of my Mothers ill informed purchases. I was impressed with the smell of the shampoo already, however my hair was dried to a bone after using the shampoo and I was bit glum as my hair at the moment is in great condition and at this point it was one big tangled mess! So I squeezed out the water on my hair, squirted a huge blob on my hand and applied to my hair not so sparingly! On contact with my hair it felt softer immediately and not dried out so a big hint here is never use the shampoo on its own! (not that I ever would). It put moisture back into my hair without a doubt and the smell was stronger than the shampoo. Rinsing it out was easy.

When I dried my hair with my big fluffy towel it felt alright but before I dry I always put a wide toot comb through it and I could feel the squeak. Long gone are the days of a squeak being a good, clean thing it now shows that your moisture lacking! So I wasn't too impressed with that at all and continued to tut. I could also feel the tug as I pulled my comb through.

I did think on reflection that the conditioner wasn't as thick as others I have used, maybe this was something to do with it. However once I'd perservered with the combing of my locks it looked no different or felt no different to any other time I'd washed my hair.

My drying routine was the same as ever. Cool setting on my trusty hair drier first and I was shocked when dry my hair was really, really shiny indeed and completely full of body. My hair has a natural curl (though really messy and not suitable for going out with) and this product had breathed life into the curls. It was more bouncy. However I usually straighten my curls if I'm going out as I said, I was and I did feel it was harder even on a 220C setting (I usually do it cooler) that it struggled to straighten my hair. It was completely defiant, though nothing can defy my Lee Stafford products it just took a bit more work.

The finished result was a bit more fluffy and a bit more flyaway than usual and I noticed I had a lot of electricity running through my hair which I zapped with a ton of hairspray! My hair does have a mind of its own but this time it really did try rule the roost and it became totally defiant!

Overall....

I, like the other review on here has to sit on the fence about this product. I did feel I had shine and a bit of body but I usually do with my hair products and general care of my hair. I didn't feel my hair was incredibly soft after and I must admit I have used better product's. The smell is lovely though as I think most Dove products do smell great. However this product was unsuitable for my hair and I lost control. The bit of shine I had wasnt worth all the hard work after to get my hair to do as it was told!

I don't know if someone older in general would benefit from this product, but my Mum is 62 with dry coarse hair which is darkened and has streaks put in it often and she hasn't raved about it and her hair doesn't look in any better condition it still looks burnt out (shhhh lol)

Maybe straight hair thats doesn't take a lot of styling would also benefit from the range.

Overall I wouldn't go out of my way to buy this product but I wouldn't avoid it if it was there to use. I feel this is a rather disappointing addition to an otherwise perfect range!

£2.59 Boots but can be found in most good supermarkets and chemists but in Boots do look out for the offers on this range which are normally about and don't forget to use your advantage card!

Summary: To Dove or not to Dove you decide!

I don't think I'll bother with this one. Try the 'Shine' one by Pantene. Now that is nice :-) Well reviewed.

I just use whatever I can reach when I'm in the shower.

I like to throw a bottle of veet into the mix every now and then to add a little "russian roullette" vibe to the mornings.
