Advantages: Everything
Disadvantages: None, but this is only suitable for dark hair
With my hair being so out of whack lately when I spotted this, joyful I was! I love Dove products as a rule and I particularly like the shampoo's and conditioner's but to the best of my knowledge hadn't tried any sort of leave-in conditioner idea from within the range before purchasing this.
My hair at the moment (although subject to change) is actually not so bad due to massive haircut. So instead of having a frizz-ball hair do covered in broken hairs around my crown and heaps of split ends now I just possess slightly dry hair that is prone to frizz. My hair still can't decide if it's wavy/curly or straight and all I want to achieve at the moment is making my hair more a bit more hydrated and soft and giving it (instead of me) a damn good drink! I've decided against heat styling so much for the moment and a couple of days ago I bought some gorgeous pink ghds (straighteners) as they're known for being a bit more kind to the hair than other straighteners. Yes I'm infatuated with my hair to the tune of £135 quid fellas and that's without all the ghd products I purchased at the same time but hey that's what birthday money is for I think lol
The Packaging....
Dusky pink 200ml plastic recyclable bottle with pump action arm situated at the top which clicks side to side to protect the product from squishing out all over the place! On the front of the bottle all in white writing I'm told it's Dove (little silver Dove picture under that). I'm then told it's Protecting Milk, Colour Care and that it's for darkened hair and that it's a leave-in treatment. On the back I'm told very little about what it's for, directions for use, ingredients, contact details for Unilever (the manufacturers of Dove products), the size is listed (as I've stated already), the recycle symbol is on there and finally there is a white-bar code. Now although the bottle is actually rather nice to look at there isn't much information on my bottle at all and I purchased mine in Poundland so it may be I have a foreign bottle which is why I don't have much information on it! It is however available in many stores (I've seen it in Boots priced £3.99 recently) and it is available to buy online (just google for it).

Using It....
Finally a fabulous hair product I can review! This is lovely stuff make no mistake about it!
It pumps out of the bottle really easily. It's a white shiny liquid that isn't a thick and gloopy cream but it isn't a thin and/or runny liquid at all. Dispense the recommended amount between your palms and it doesn't go thick it becomes a bit translucent and although it spreads and absorbs easily over freshly washed hair which is combed it doesn't feel greasy or heavy at all. I gently, with my fingers thinly coat my hair with this and comb or brush through again just to make sure it really is on all of my hair. I can feel where the product is or isn't and you can easily add more if required of course. Even if in my opinion I've added to much it really doesn't matter as hair drinks it in and hair simply feels soft as anything.
I blow dry my hair and this is very simple to do indeed. Remember that all this product is, is a leave in conditioner. Yes it conditions my hair beautifully and even though I've used a wash out conditioner already as part of my routine my hair doesn't go sticky, heavy, flyaway, bouncy or anything else. It feels soft and full of life. Now that's what this product offers so 5 out of 5 on that and I could stop the review there but lets not eh! Lets talk about it's other positive attributes!
I'm delighted with my soft and bouncy hair that isn't hard to style and of course this is only a conditioner so you can by all means use other hair products to style hair as usual and this doesn't give other products a hard time it allows them to works as well even if they aren't Dove products which I think is pretty nice of it really! Also you could use this as the only conditioner rather than a wash out one if desired of course!
What this also seems to do is smooth the hair making it... less frizzy! It does it by gently conditioning the hair rather than gluing anything and making it heavy thus dragging the hair down. I find that after blow drying hair looks a little tamed and more like hair rather than a fluffy frizz-ball and it's great after using this and no other styling products to straighten my hair that's how good this is! Sure I use a spritz of hairspray but this gives really natural, healthy and shiny hair. Yes shiny as well! Shine you can see too as frizz is diminished.
Also a really big positive point is the smell of it. I wanted to list this as a positive rather with in the review at the beginning as a a passing thought because along with soft, hydrated hair I want something that smells great too. Well this really does! Smells like the original Dove soap bar in the white and blue box. Hard to say what it smells of really but it's sweet, soapy and just really creamy and light. It stays fragrant for hours and disguises the smell of any other product you have on your hair, it's that fragrant. If you love the smell of Dove, you'll adore this as much as I do.
In Conclusion....
A must buy for people with dark hair. I'm not sure why it's marketed at people with dark hair as it doesn't say why on the packaging though! This is just excellent for me and time and time again I use it and the product delivers on so many levels. From the ease of application on my hair, looking and feeling silky soft and smooth, the fragrance and the fact that although this isn't a styling product as such it's a wonderful hydrating base to continue styling from if you desire. It's a rich, every day leave in conditioner that gives no flaky residue and washes out simply leaving no residue either. Of course I don't use mine everyday as I have many products to pick and choose from (please read other reviews lol) but if my hair is in particularly dry and/or in a frazzled out state then this is a really good pick me up that works instantly.
I'd really recommend this one without reservation!
Summary: A brilliant treatment
