I normally use products from Lush, The Body Shop or Soap & Glory but bought a set of Dove miniatures for travel purposes. One of the products was the shampoo. This was the version for normal hair - I have dry hair but I don't think Dove make miniatures of their dry hair shampoo.
Dove state that this shampoo contains a protecting serum to shield the hair fibre and protect it from damage, maintaining the hair's natural balance without weighing it down. According to the Boots website, a 250ml bottle costs £2.65, which is pretty good value for money. The shampoo is meant to leave your hair protected, visibly healthy and beautiful. For best results you are meant to use it with the matching conditioner. All shampoos say this though and I don't always bother - I have done so with this one though as I have the matching conditioner.
The shampoo bottle is white with the Dove logo and this miniature version has a pull-off lid. Inside, the shampoo is white and reasonably thick with a pleasant scent - I'm not sure if it is supposed to smell like anything in particular, it is just a fresh clean scent.
I wet my hair, squeeze a blob of the shampoo onto my hands, massage it into my hair and rinse it out - just like any other shampoo really. After use my hair feels clean and soft but I always follow with the matching conditioner as my hair is dry.
I really like this shampoo. It is gentle on my scalp and doesn't irritate it. It makes my hair very soft too - impressive for a shampoo that is not particularly designed for dry hair. If anything my hair is slightly too soft - almost fluffy. It does look shiny and in good condition but it is slightly more difficult to style.
Overall I do think this is a good shampoo - I recommend it if you want a gentle shampoo that leaves hair soft and shiny.
Dove Shampoo For Normal Hair
I don't really have a favourite shampoo or conditioner, usually I pick up what ever they have in the 99p shop at the moment, but I had to grab some from Boots a few weeks ago, so I went with the trusty normal Dove.
We used to use this a fair few years ago, and I was pleased to see that it's still as good as ever!
The bottle is 250ml and clean looking, not too vibrant. It's a simple flip back lid so easy to open and close. If I remember rightly, I think it was priced at around £1.10 so not too expensive either.
The shampoo itself is quite thick so doesn't run all over your hand (previous ones have done just that!) and easily spreads into your hair and scalp. It washes out easily and doesn't stick to your roots.
Another great thing that wins me over with shampoos is that it smells very nice, after all you don't want your hair smelling like a wet dog now do you! It smells sweet and summery, that's probably the best way I can describe it. In fact, people have commented on how nice my hair smells after I started using it.
I often find it is on special offer in a chemist in town (2 for the price of 1 etc.) which is a huge bonus, as is the fact that being a Dove product, it's pretty widely available
All in all, I would certainly recommend it and I will try to pick this up more now, even if it means going out of my way!
I really love the Dove range of products and in particular I really like Dove shampoo as it seems to suit my hair perfectly. We tend to use the one manly for normal hair and this is the one I am referring to in this review. Generally speaking, I'm not particularly loyal to one brand of any shampoo or conditioner as I swap and change according to whether or not there are any special offers I place. However, if I had to choose a favourite, then I 'd probably opt for Dove.
I find this is always on offer at Wilkinson's where it costs around £1 a bottle. The bottle is 250ml in size, white in colour, with a flip back lid. It's a large sized bottle, and for only £1 it is certainly well worth every penny.
There are two things I really love about this shampoo. The first thing is obviously the way it makes my air feel light and bouncy and in great condition. The other thing is the gorgeous smell. There is something about the smell of a Dove product that just cannot be beaten. The fragrance is so light and fresh and floral but suitable for use by the whole family as this shampoo is incredibly gentle and yet gives a deep clean at the same time.
The shampoo is fairly thick in consistency and is white in colour. It lathers very well indeed on wet hair and then rinses clean away afterwards without laving any stickiness.
The day after my hair still smells really great and it 's suitable for any type of hair. I personally suffer from greasy roots but my hubby has dry hair and we both like this shampoo equally. I also use this shampoo on our daughter and it makes her hair look very shiny and healthy
I can find nothing negative about this shampoo at all. It's a great price, it's a good sized bottle, the quality is excellent and it makes my hair feel great.

I have been using a shampoo designed for just brunettes and dyed hair, but the change in ingredients was making my hair feel and looked damaged and unhealthy, so I knew I'd have to find another decent brand, with so much choice it is hard! But in my local Wilkinson, I noticed Dove Daily Care shampoo, it was on buy one get one free. Although not tried Dove shampoo before, it looked like it would be much kinder to my hair.
The shampoo comes in a 250ml white bottle, with a flip lid. The bottle contains the recognizable Dove symbol, and includes a lot of information on both sides. Dove claim the shampoo has "micro moisture serum" and "protects hair against normal wear and tear". On the back of the bottle there is information on the ingredients and further information on the "micro moisture serum".
Using the shampoo is the same as other shampoo's, I put about a 2p sized amount of the shampoo, but for longer hair you may want a bigger size. I thought 2p was perfect for my hair, it was just enough to do the job, without making my hair feel heavy with shampoo. The shampoo lathers up perfectly easy on wet hair. The Dove Shampoo is how it smells, and it has a creamy, almost soapy smell, which is nice and but not particularly exciting, but the smell is never the tipping point for a shampoo, and I'm guessing not using added smells makes the shampoo more natural for hair.
The shampoo has quite powerful effects, my hair felt instantly clean, but without drying my hair, which was biggest worry. Even when the hair is still wet, you can tell the shampoo is light on hair, perfect! Once dry my hair felt much softer then previously, but had more bounce to it, which is such a benefit for me, as my hair tends to be quite limp and dull. The clean effects of the shampoo last throughout the day, as did the softness, so such a bonus!
The long term benefits of the shampoo are that my hair feels healthier permanently, I have less spilt ends and my hair has more bounce and, just looks healthier and brighter. Also the shampoo lasts ages, I've been using it for a few months and only just past half way through. Couldn't recommend enough!
Dove Daily Care shampoo is available at most pharmacists and supermarkets, costing around £2.65, but it varies from place to place.
Dove damage therapy Daily Care shampoo with Micro Moisture Serum:
After finishing Alberto Balsam Tea Tree Tingle shampoo (which always got in my eyes & stung real bad) I decided to try the Dove shampoo range. Having tried Dove balance therapy a few years back, I wanted to see what the new one was like...
There were a vast range of Dove shampoos to choose from, from ones such as Heat Defence, Volumising, Colour Protect, Intensive Repair, Daily Care & Pro-Age. I chose the daily care version as it seemed like a good buy at £1.12 from Morrisons.
About Dove Daily Care:
This range makes Daily Care shampoo, conditioner & a 2in1 version, perfect for when your on the go. It claims to leave your hair 100% soft & radiant becuase it apparently contains a micro moisture serum. It is supposed to protect hair from daily wear & tear, it's for a normal hair type (I have greasy hair & it works fine for me) & it has a lightweight formulation.
On the back of the bottle is a little chart and the one highlighted in blue is what this shampoo covers. There is Light Damage: Dull, limp & slightly dry. Medium Damage: Frizzy, dry, rough & Heavy Damage: Breakage & split ends.
How to use:
We all know how to use a shampoo, right! If you don't, here's a reminder:
Massage shampoo into hair, leave for 1-2 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
Appearance & Smell:
This shampoo has a very white & almost pearly appearance. The smell is very fresh & invigorating, nothing posh like tea tree or pomegrante, it just smell of cleanliness but not in a boring or plain way.
When I had a shower later on in the evening I tried this out. Even though the bottle was full, it was difficult to squeeze out because it was very thick. I accidentally squeezed out too much, ended up using too much which meant I had to spend longer in the shower to remove all of it! It's on it's 4th use now though and I use a walnut size & shape. That's just enough for my length of hair & it means it rinses out quick enough too!
When I dried my hair it looked really healthy & nourished. It also gave it shine did'nt give it any flyawayness at all! It was a great shampoo especially at that price! I should get the conditioner too & see how these two really react together becuase if the shampoo works this great i'm sure the condtitioner will too!
Intense Repair (Shampoo, Conditioner, Express Treatment Conditioner, Leave-in Cream & Intensive Mask)
Nourishing Oil Care (Shampoo, Conditioner & Express Treatment Conditioner)
Colour Radiance (Shampoo, Conditioner & Express Treatment Conditioner)
Pro-Age (Shampoo & Conditioner)
Daily Care (Shampoo, Conditioner & 2in1)
Heat Defence (Shampoo, Conditioner & Heat Therapy Mist)
Silk & Sleek (Shampoo & Conditioner)
Volume Boost (Shampoo & Conditioner)
A great shampoo that smells nice, is really thick, which only requires a little bit to work. A good quality shampoo especially from Dove!
Currently ASDA have the whole shampoo & conditioner bottles for £1! The intensive treatments, heat therapy mist, leave in cream & the intensive treatment conditioners are all 3 for £5! Really good value for £1! I bet if I go to ASDA none will be left!
Thanks for reading/rating :)
Dove make a really great shampoo for normal hair. It costs me just over a pound from the cheap shop for a big 250ml white plastic bottle. The bottle has a flip top lid in blue and the bottle is strong ans sturdy and won't tip over (too much) in the shower. As the bottle is soft plastic it is very easy to dispense this product.
I wet my hair beforehand and then squirt out a bit about the size of 10p and apply to my head, rubbing vigorously to spread it about and make a great lather. The smell of this Dove shampoo is exactly the same as all the other Dove products we have tried in our house. We also have the soap which is also very nice - they are all nice smelling rpducts and feel very rich and creamy to use, as does this particular shampoo.
The shampoo consistency is quite thick and glutonous and feels smooth and creamy as I mash it between my hands as I rub it into my head and my facial hair. It contains one quarter moisturising cream (as do all the Dove range products) and this in turn makes my head and facial hair feel soft and smooth and wispy and much like candy floss when it is blow dried and has had time to settle for the night. My hair always takes time to settle and I often find that when it is just washed it will fly off in all different directions and I can look rather strange. Give it a couple of hours though and it has 'relaxed' and looks normal again. I don't know if this is the same for everyone or if it is just the texture of my own personal hair, but I have always found this to be the case.
I have also used the Dove moisturiser in this range and it is also good stuff. I only need to wash my hair once with this shampoo and I find it really cleans well and rinses off with no sticky feeling afterwards.
Good stuff and really recommended.
Perhaps Im a sucker for a good ad but the 'real women' approach from Dove, in my opinion was genius and so simple. I am not however deluded into thinking my hair is automatically going to go from frizzy and flyaway (god bless GHD's!) to sleek and shiny like that girl in the ad after one wash....that's just not going to happen. But having a range of what I'd call 'normal' women in the ad using the product works for me and encouraged me to buy it and try it!!!
The shampoo (conditioner also available) comes in a neat 250ml white bottle (the style has changed to the picture shown however the bottle stills has flip top lid). There is a range of shampoos to suit most hair types, such as normal, Silk and sleek to colour care. Dove also do a pro age range which my Mum loves. The shampoo is fairly thick in consistency which I prefer as it usually lathers up better than thinner ones and you need to use much less.
I really like the smell of the product, it leaves my hair smelling fresh but does not have an overpowering scent. As I have mentioned the shampoo lathers up well, I usually shampoo my hair twice as my hair is fairly long but when it was much shorter I never needed to shampoo it twice so I think that is down to personal preference.
Dove shampoo's at the moment are claiming a 'smooth as silk' promise when using their shampoo and conditioner together. I was rather impressed that after using both the shampoo and conditioner my hair felt very smooth even after blow drying.
I always buy the shampoo and conditioner when they are on offer in my local supermarket, either BOGOF or for £1 each so my advice would be to shop around!!! Otherwise prices can range from £1-£2.50.
Im quite a fan of Dove, I use their shower gel and I haven't found anything that compares to that yet. For me the shampoo and condition leave my hair clean, a little smoother than before and smelling fresh. A great shampoo.
I love Dove products and this is a really nice creamy shampoo.
I paid about £1.50 for it which is a good price for such a good quality shampoo. The bottle is fairly basic looking and is white with a blue lid so you know its a Dove product but it doesn't have any gimmick about it.
One of the things that I really like about it is that when I open it I can instantly tell it is Dove because of the gorgeous fresh creamy smell. It is very uplifting and is a pleasure to use. It really makes my hair smell lovely and the smell lasts so my hair feels fresh and clean all day. I have had compliments about the smell of my hair when using this so it really is noticable which I think is an added bonus to this shampoo.
After using it my hair feels softer and smoother and it definately feels moisturised and not so dry. I have quite dry hair but this really helps to easy the dryness and frizzyness. It says it is for normal hair but I found it worked really well on my dry damaged hair. It also makes my hair look very shiny which I really like about it.
I would recommend this shampoo to all my friends to try as it is nice to use and leaves hair looking great.
I try to change my shampoo fairly regulalrly to avoid residue build-up and Dove is one of the brands I like best for a variety of reasons.
The 250ml bottle costs around £2.50 or less and is widely available in chemists, supermarkets and beauty stores. It comes in a curved white bottle with the distinctive Dove logo and blue detailing.
I love this shampoo because it has no airs and graces and is just a straight-forward but effective shampoo, which works well and smells lovely.
When the product is dispensed it appears as a white, thick and creamy gloop with an almost pearlescent appearance. It is a bit like shower gel but has more substance.
It lathers very well on the hair, meaning only a small amount is needed, about the amount of a fifty pence piece for my beyond shoulder length barnet.
Another bonus is that this product rinses out easily leaving hair feeling squeaky clean and fresh as a daisy. The scent is very familiar and comforting as it is the same as the fragrance used in the other Dove products such as the originla soap and shower gel. For those who are new to Dove, its a sort of old fashioned, soapy smell.
When my hair dries afterwards it feels soft to the touch and is bouncy and light and most of the time I don't need a seperate conditioner, or I use a light spray in one.
I love this shampoo and will continue to use it regulalrly as it does exactly what a good shampoo should, without any pretentious claims, ingredients are prices!
Last night I dyed my hair, once it was ready to wash off the instructions called for normal shampoo, as in not for coloured hair, not 2 in 1 and not anti-dandruff. I immediately panicked, all of my shampoo is for coloured hair, as is my mums and both my dad and my partner use 2 in 1. After rooting about in the bathroom cupboard I found Dove shampoo for normal hair - my guardian angel must have been looking over me last night!
The shampoo comes in a white bottle which has a curved shape to it, this makes it easy to hold and difficult to drop if you have wet hands. The bottle is made of sturdy plastic and has the appearance of a quality product. The bottle only comes in one size which is 250ml and at the moment this size is on offer at Tesco for just £1 (usually £2.50). There is a matching conditioner available which was also in the cupboard but since I only needed shampoo I cannot comment on this.
Using the shampoo was easy, the cap was easy to open even with wet hands. I squirted out quite a big blob (probably about 2 50p's worth in size) and soon realised this was far more than I needed! You would probably need less than the size of a 50p to get a good lather. The product lathered up really well and there were white bubbles everywhere! It felt very soft and luxurious and as I was putting it through my hair it seemed to be removing everything well and my hair felt clean afterwards.
Usually after dying my hair my hair feels quite dry and also often feels like half the dye is left in it. However, this morning this is not the case. My hair feels really nourished (despite not using the conditioner) and it feels cleaner than ever! My hair is super soft and really shiny. It is also quite manageable (my hair is naturally very curly and frizzy but instead today it is just quite wavy).
This shampoo was a lifesaver for me and I am really surprised with the excellent results it has given me, I am very impressed! I always use a shampoo for coloured hair on my hair so I will be going into Tesco today to see if the colour protection version of this shampoo is also in the offer - the price of £1 is absolutely fabulous for a product of such high quality but I'm not sure if I would pay the £2.50 price tag.
I would recommend this shampoo as I have been very impressed with the results and imagine that using it alongside the matching conditioner would leave me with hair in great condition!
After recently buying this shampoo this week it is one of the best shampoo's I have used!
I occasionally get lifeless, dull looking hair but this has certainly made it sleek and soft at the touch, just like many of the other Dove products. It's a very simple shampoo that does all the tricks of a more expensive brand of shampoo and when using it with conditioner it is delightful! This shampoo also leaves your hair smelling fresh and clean as well. I found that using this shampoo has made my hair look and feel more healthier.
This shampoo lasts a long time for a single person up to two weeks as you do not need to apply too much because it is thick and creamy. The price is amazing for this high quality shampoo and will never break your budget. It's the perfect fix for soft and healthier hair! Definitley worth a buy.
I use a large range of shampoos as I love to try something new and I love all of the Dove range of products and so I thought I would try the shampoo to see if I liked it and I love it and buy it a lot of the time.
It comes in a white tall plastic bottle with the name clearly on the front, with a blue flip top lid and when placed onto the hair it is nice and thick to massage into the hair beautifully.
It bottle is 250ml and is priced at around £2.50 and it is a thick white and it lathers very well indeed and it rinses off perfectly and leave the hair feeling nice and soft and very shiny. The texture is very thick and glossy and on the hand it just is amazingly soft. I have always told by hairdressers to wash the hair twice but I do not need to do that with this shampoo, once is well enough.
The hair smells lovely, clean and fresh after use and leaves the hair nice and silky, it is nice used with a conditioner but very little is needed as this product leaves it soft enough and so if you run out of conditioner it would be perfectly fine to brush or comb without too many tangles.
A little goes a very long way and is ideal for all the family and although it is for normal types of hair, when my daughter got married I had a house full of women with different types of hair and they all used it and everyone was happy with the results, and even the ones with greasy hair did not complain it made their hair go lank like some product can.
I buy this a lot when it is on special offer at supermarkets and I have often bought it for £1 and for a well known brand it is a fabulous price.
I recommend it to anyone to give it a try as I do not think you will be disappointed and your hair will be nice and soft and shiny.
I give it 5 stars.
Thank you for reading my review.
Having suffered the consequences of a cheap store brand shampoo, I decided to try Dove. While I would normally have opted for an organic product, my satisfaction with Dove soap prompted me to try this shampoo. I found it at my local supermarket for £1 and it has turned out to be money well spent. Dove was instantly soothing to my dry, itchy scalp without stripping my hair or leaving any residue behind. It has a lovely, mild scent that is suitable for both men and women. The bottle isn't as large as some other shampoo brands but, contrary to what I'd initally expected, it lasts a long time. An almond-sized amount of the product works into a great lather and provides plenty of cleaning power for my short hair. This shampoo leaves my hair with that squeaky clean feeling but is also moisturising, as one would expect from a Dove product, and I've been able to cut down on using conditioner as a result. The only drawback of this shampoo is the inclusion of sodium laureth sulfate (which I generally try to avoid) and other unpronounceable ingredients, but for an inexpensive shampoo, this is one of the best.
I am very fond of the Dove shower creams, they really do make a difference to the quality of the skin, so I was wondering if the shampoo would have the same effect on my hair. I tried the shampoo for normal hair, as I felt that was the safest option to start off with!
The usual trademark Dove packaging. Minimal, white bottle with a flip-top lid. It stands fine on the side of the bath, though the bottle is narrow which means it is prone to falling over!
Dispense a piece about the size of a ten pence piece and you will be met by a smooth white gloopy-goo of a shampoo. It is rather like pouring the shower gel out actually, it has that same deliciously milky look about it. There is a real creaminess when you pour the shampoo and it feels quite smooth and silky in the hand. The shampoo lathers up pretty well, so not much effort is required in that department.
There is a pleasant and not overwhelming scent. It smells of soap I guess, but nothing too astrigent, meaning there are subtle notes coming through and a delicate offset clean aroma. It is just about right.
After a rinse with cool water and a blot dry with a towel, to protect the cuticles, I finished with a blow dry on medium heat. Running my hands through afterwards, the hair had a softness about it, which called to mind Loreal's Nutrigloss. It did not feel too heavy or weighed down, though it did not do much to help with volume nor did it combat split ends particularly well. I find Pantene does a better job for these concerns.
Dove shampoo is handy as a back-up shampoo in the cupboard and delivers sufficient results for a clean head of hair, though it lacks the special touches and targetted nutrition of other brands.
Firstly, let me say that I am a big fan of the Dove range. I love the fact that you can buy everything that you need from the same range, as Dove do shampoo (including 2 in 1), soap (both pump and bar), shower wash, body lotion, hand cream and deodorant. They have everything covered really. Plus you get the added bonus of everything being scent free and with added moisturiser.
Okay, that said, let me tell you about 1 of their products...
What is it ?
Dove Shampoo (for normal hair)
The price ?
A very competative £1 - £2.29 depending on where you shop and whether or not it is on special offer. (based on 250ml size, larger sizes are available).
The packaging ?
Quite simply really. A white bottle with a blue (or sometimes white) lid. The Dove name is very clear to see on the front of the bottle. The blue / white packaging is a trademark of Dove, and is used for the whole range.
These are on the back of the bottle, but they are in quite tiny print. However, this is shampoo, do you really need many instructions !
The shampoo ?
This is a thick, almost creamy looking liquid. It has a shine to it which does help to make it look very luxurious. There is very little scent to it, which actually is very appealing - not everyone wants to smell like an apple orchard or coconut do they !
Applying to the hair ?
Very easy, you need a small amount as it does go along way - making it very good value. I have thick hair past the shoulders and I use about 2 tablespoon fulls. The shampoo feels very smooth and silky in your hand. It lathers up very quickly when rubbed into wet hair. You do get alot of 'froth' from this shampoo, which adds to the feeling that you are being pampered as you clean.
After rinsing you can repeat if you wish.
I find that this shampoo leaves my hair feeling really clean and because it contains 1/4 moisturiser, my hair is smooth and soft and silky. It is very easy to comb through before drying.
Once dry, my hair is shiny and feels wonderfully soft and cared for. I don't need to wash it again for about three days.
Overall conclusion ?
One of the best products I have found.
The Dove range covers all your bathroom needs. So if you want a no nonsense product that does the job intended, has not added 'smells', that containers moisturiser and leaves you feeling pampered, then this is for you.
I would recommend this product to anyone. I give this shampoo 10/10.
