Advantages: freshness, cleanliness, fragrance,

Disadvantages: bottle design, no spf or heat protection

When you can get your hands on a brand name product, 250ml bottle for only £1 how can you not want to give it a go. Bought several months ago and have never looked back since! Usually bought when on offer in Tesco, but have found it in the local Pound World and Home Bargain.

I have naturally brown, thick hair and use minimal products so it is quite a healthy mop. This shampoo has given it a great shine, soft feel and healthy look all over. It has a clean, soapy smell, which lingers in your hair, leaving you feeling refreshed and very clean. I have noticed less breakage in my hair and less hair loss through brushing and combing too.

A trick I have learnt from the hairdresser is to apply a small, pea sized amount to dry hair before washing, as this will absorb the grease better than with wet hair. Leave it for a few minutes, rinse, and then wash your hair as normal. I have tried this several times and have noticed a small difference but nothing major. This could be down to the brand of shampoo I am using so might work better with a 'greasy' hair shampoo. However, I have stockpiled enough Dove Therapy to put off experimenting with another shampoo.

The bottle, however, annoys me. I like to know how much I have left, so I am not a huge fan of solid colour plastic bottles. Also, unlike its conditioner partner, the opening is at the top of the bottle so when you are getting to the end of the product, it is harder to squeeze out the remnants (and its not really a bottle that can be cut in half without the aid of a saw!). Do try to keep the opening clean too, as congealed shampoo is not very pleasant, especially when it gets into your hair, it can be harder to wash in or out!

If you have thin or fine hair, avoid this product. It will make your hair more flyaway and unmanageable. It also seems to make thinner hair greasier, especially underneath, which leads to more washing, which in turn removes the healthy oils and balance of your hair. Try to do two to three days between washes if you can, to keep the balance in your hair. Hair that gets greasier quickly will not benefit from this product.

I have been an avid fan of this product for months now and will be hard pushed to change any time soon. It does also come in the small, travel sized bottle but that can cost as much as the 250ml bottle so you are better off buying the empty travel bottles (from Body Care or Boots) and decanting it yourself to take away with you. It has no SPF or heat protection though so is not the best holiday hair (or hair straighteners) companion.

Summary: Perfect for normal to thicker hair!

I have greasy, oily hair so will certainly avoid this one! What a brilliant review :)
