My eldest daughter absolutely hates getting her hair brushed, so I am always on the look out for decent hair care products that will make life a bit easier and quieter. I spotted this "Childrens Head Lice Repellent and Leave In Conditioner Spray" by Dr Johnson costing 99p in Home and Bargain, as it was both a head lice repellent and leave in conditioner I decided it was worth a go.
The 150ml bottle comes in a white bottle which is slightly transparent. On the front is a bright green sticker with the brand and product name on. There is a cartoon style picture of a rather concerned looking head louse with a speech bubble next to him which says "Grounded". Another green sticker on the back gives some general advise including ingredients and the usual warnings such as avoid contact with eyes. Once opened the product should be used within twelve months. Directions are also given and are straight forward and easy to understand. The product is simply sprayed onto wet or dry hair and massaged into the scalp. Ontop of the bottle is a screw on spray nozzle. Overall I find the packaging rather cheap looking, but I guess this is something to be expected from a product with a 99p price tag.
I have used this spray on my daughters hair for around a month and have been fairly impressed with the results. It has a nice Eucalyptus fragrance, which is not overly strong. I spray this on my daughters wet hair after her shower and also on her dry hair, I feel it makes brushing the hair much easier and there are certainly less knots and tangles. It leaves the hair well conditioned and with and with a nice added shine. I can't 100% say if it really lives up to the claim of repelling head lice, but my daughter has not suffered with any head lice whilst we have been using it. I have been pretty happy with this product and feel it makes brushing my daughters hair easier. One problem I do have with this product is the spray nozzle which seems to spray the product onto just one section of the hair and I would have prefered a nice spritz that covered the hair more evenly.
Dr Johnsons Childrens Head Lice Repellent is a decent spray considering its price. However, I have tried similar products by different brands and feel they have given better results. I would consider buying again but there are better products on the market.
