Advantages: good price, looks good, smells good, works
Disadvantages: Only available in Tesco
Elida are a new range of shampoos and conditioners made by Unilever and exclusive to Tesco. Tesco have really been plugging these as they have just been launched and if you shop in their stores I doubt you could have missed the huge amount of this stuff on promotion.
The 200ml bottles are on offer (an may well end up being a permanent offer) at 2 for £2. Not a product to rival say, Alberto Balsam for value for money (another range Tesco stock in abundance). However I don't see Elida, although cheap, as being advertised as a budget brand.
The bottles are simply designed yet sophisticated, as to me wouldn't look out of place in a salon. Each type of shampoo and it's matching conditioner have a different colour scheme. I chose the 'Revive and Shine' variety which are pale pink and lilac. The front has the 'Elida Hair Institute Paris' logo and 'Revive and Shine' in a rectangle at the bottom. All this is on a clear plastic label and I guess this makes for very cheap packaging, as they just need to change what's printed in the rectangles and stick on the corresponding bottle. Very cost effective I guess, yet still looks stylish. After all, I think most of us would rather a cheaper product with simple packaging than a more expensive one with lots of colour etc, it's the product that the important part.
The Claims for the two products are as follows -
Revive and Shine Shampoo - "Gently cleans your hair, leaving it beautifully soft and shiny."
Revive and Shine conditioner - "Gently conditions and detangles your hair leaving it beautifully silky and shiny."
I like the fact that the blurb is simple and doesn't promise the world, just says what it does.
The shampoo is a bright pink, runny liquid with a very subtle floral smell. A little goes a long way as it lathers up really well, and left my hair with that squeak to it so you know it's super clean. The conditioner has a similar subtle smell and it quite thick, it doesn't feel that high quality as you squeeze it out as it kind of jelly like, but it got rid of all the knots in my hair very quickly.
After drying, my hair felt light and fresh and very soft. I wasn't over shiny but it doesn't matter what product I use I can never get super shiny hair. My favourite shampoo at the moment is Pantene, and I don't think this is quite as good, but at the price, I'd buy this again and alternate between the two to cut costs.
Overall, an impressive shampoo for the price.
