      Advantages

      Disadvantages

      A high quality hair mousse

Whilst I'm fortunate enough to have thick and curly hair, due to its' long length the curls are often dragged out leaving it looking a little flat, particularly on the crown. Consequently, it is necessary for me to add a little body and the way I achieve this is with mousse products. For as long as I can possibly remember I've used Boots own brand, which serves its' purpose well. However, directly after Christmas my Mum bought me a mousse belonging to Enliven, a brand that she's been purchasing for a good few years and she wanted me to try it.

      APPEARANCE OF THE PRODUCT

The product clearly stands out on the shelf due to its' rather plain, but extremely eye-catching packaging. The manufacturer, namely DCS Manufacturing has simply used a white background with the word "Enliven" in a bright shade of turquoise blue. We are provided with a metal canister of 300 ml of mousse containing pro-vitamin and are advised that the product will deliver an ultra hold. This is an important point for me, particularly as my hair is very long and thick, as regular strength mousse products are not powerful enough to deliver the results that I require.

      USING ENLIVEN

As with all products of this nature I need to shake the can well and remove the transparent plastic lid, which securely clips back into place following use. If you are familiar with using mousse products you will be aware that the initial use requires a little pressure to be applied to the plastic dispensing unit to break the factory seal. The opening is sufficient and identical to any other brands I have used and I keep my finger on the button until a blob approximately 3 cm in diameter is released.

The texture of the mousse is white and fairly fluffy, but it does not feel as soft as my regular brand and the aroma is a little difficult to describe. Whilst my initial thoughts are that it is delicately floral my sniffer dog nose is able to pick out a slight chemical aroma, but fortunately, this is undetectable when applied to my hair. Whilst further mousse is needed I prefer to apply in small applications, particularly as it almost trebles in size once being released into the palm of my hand. I evenly distribute the product into my hair whilst paying more attention to the crown of my head; the area that needs the most lift.

A huge positive with this product is that the dispensing unit does not continue to churn out mousse long after I have released my finger. The mousse is easily applied to my hair and there is no stickiness, which is something I detest and have unfortunately, experienced with many other brands. I blow dry my hair in the usual manner and that is upside down to enable me to obtain maximum lift. After lifting my head and seeing stars for a few minutes I am able to witness an absolutely huge head of hair, which would have been perfect for the eighties, but in order to tame its' appearance I use my fingertips.

I wash my hair on alternate days and the mousse delivers first class results giving my hair the body that it so desperately needs. It is easily washed and rinsed way without leaving any traces of sticky residue. In the past I have used many brands of mousses that would cause dryness to my hair, but this is far from the case with Enliven, which in my opinion, is a high quality and very reasonably priced product. My can is currently three quarters used and I will definitely be replacing when empty. As I am so pleased with this product it receives 5 stars from me.

      INGREDIENTS AND OTHER INFORMATION

Whilst the front of the can is very easy on the eye the rear is arguably the most busiest can of mousse that I have ever seen, as we are provided with lists upon lists of instructions in several languages together with the ingredients, which is presented in the smallest of text. Consequently, I do not intend copying anything into this review, but can confirm that I suffered no adverse reactions when using. There is no symbol on the product to advise us of its' shelf life, which I find a little unusual and the recycling symbol also seems to have been omitted. The only symbol I can find is the image of a rabbit, which indicates that the product has not been tested on animals.

      PRICE AND AVAILABILITY

I am unsure how widely available Enliven Ultra Hold Mousse actually is, but would advise that it can be purchased in Lloyds Pharmacy for just £1 for a 300 ml can.

I hope you found my review useful and would thank you for reading.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Bought a can of Eliven Ultra Hold Mousse as I couldn't get my usual brand and this was all that was available in Supervalu. Total waste of money.. it doesn't have ANY hold for your hair, is quite light and watery and has no real substance. I had to re-apply the mousse to the same parts over again because they were totally drying up as if I'd just applied water to them. Doesn't hold hair or give it any volume at all, or provide any "lift" as it claims on the can. Once I dried my hair, it was totally frizzy as if I'd not used any product on it at all. While it was cheap to purchase, I'd much rather pay more money for a product that is decent and actually works.
