Advantages: Is effective in creating better shape and hold.
Disadvantages: None.
I've recently started swimming and my poor hair has been a bit frizzy since hitting the chlorine waters. It has prompted me to change from my shops own mousse brand to this Frizz Ease mousse. I thought this Curl Reviver Styling Mousse would be great for me as I have wavy to curly hair which quite often loses it's shape. This mousse is especially designed for people with 'curly styles'.
The product comes in a 200ml sized tall can which has a button on the top which dispenses the mousse foam through four long, thin holes. The button has a large lip so is easy to press down. The bottle should be held at a slight angle when dispensing and the slanted shape of the dispenser means you can create a neat ball of foam.
The can is printed with product information in multiple languages. John Frieda, the brand who create this mousse, say that this mousse "energises and defines curls" as well as being able to control frizz and produce shine. The mousse is free from alcohol ingredients and also contains a "thermal protectant and UV filter" meaning it protects from sunlight's drying rays.
The mousse is designed to be used on damp hair although I've tried using it on dry hair and it works quite well. You should work the mousse through your hair evenly and onto the strands you want to style. You can then dry hair either naturally or blow dry. I almost always leave mine to dry naturally.
The mousse is a thick, rich white foam which is only very slightly sticky, certainly less so than cheaper mousses I have used. The mousse is easy to work through the hair as it's thick enough to be able to massage into the strands before it melts into the hair shaft. The mousse has a pleasant sweet and fresh fragrance which does not smell at all chemically like many mousses do.
As I mentioned I have used this on dry hair and this result leaves the hair a bit more 'formed' and crispy than if you use it on damp hair as you are supposed to. After applying to towel dried hair and leaving to dry my curls have great shape and aren't stiff nor do they look loaded with product. The mousse is great at being able to reduce any dryness and I'm very impressed that even the most straw-like bleached parts of my hair are able to become softer and more shapely after application. The mousse reduces frizz without a doubt and is similar to the effect that other Frizz Ease products have (such as the serum or conditioning spray) except with the mousse you are able to create and hold a style too.
Between washes the mousse does tend to make my hair heavier but there is never a build up of product and when I come to wash my hair I don't feel like I have to worry about washing this product away.
I'm very pleased with this mousse and will certainly use it again. I would recommend this to anyone who has dry, difficult to control hair.
Summary: Works well to control frizz and define curls or waves.
