Advantages: Stops the frizz
Disadvantages: If you overapply it'll look greasy
Frizz-Ease is a type of hair serum. Hair serum is designed to control hair and make it look better and is basically non-sticky silicon oil which forms a thin protective layer around each hair strand. The main aim is to protect the hair from damage and return the moisture that is often stripped by natural sunlight and styling tools such as straighteners.
Many women use hair serum because they feel the conditon and appearance of their hair is not as good as it could or should be. This can be for completely natural reasons like someone who is born with curly hair which has a tendancy towards frizziness or it can be because someone has styled their hair a lot either by colouring processes like bleaching or by frequent use of at-home hair tools like straightening irons or curling tongs and thus caused a lot of damage to the hair and some people just use it to increase shine and protect against the lightening effect that your (and when I say your I mean my) hair gets when you are caught out in the rain. Frizz-Ease is one of, if not the most, popular serums about and is often featured in beauty must-have lists.
Frizz-Ease normally comes in plastic packaging but I bought mine so long ago I can't remember it. Inside there is a cylindrical tube which is see-through most of the bottle except at the top where it is grey, I imagine this might be to hide the pump contraction. Anyway on top of the bottle is the aforementioned pump. It has an 'on' and 'off' position. To go from one to the other simply twist the pump and it will lock down and you will not be able to depress it. When you are ready to use it just turn it back in the opposite direction and push down. Don't be too vigorous with the pumping as it comes out quite easily and you only need a very little. I advise you put the pump back into the off position if you intend to carry it around in a gym bag or something as once or twice I forgot and you accidentally push the pump down and you unknowingly cover everything in your bag with goo.
Firstly shampoo and condition your hair. Then rinse out the excess water so it's not dripping everywhere but do not towel or blow dry. Then for the serum. To use pump out a small amount and rub your hands together. Then put your hands around the hair and run it down the hair shaft - it's as if you were making a sandwich and the hair is the fillng if that helps anyone. If you use too much your hair will become slimy and that's the opposite of what you want. Start small and if needed go back for more. My advice would be to not go any higher than ear level. Often hair that is nearer the scalp is oilier and thus will look greasy if serum is added as well. Also hair at the top of your head is newer and hasn't suffered as much from styling yet so won't be so dried out and damaged. Oh and bear in mind that this is a leave in product so don't try and rinse it out.
I find this makes a real difference to my hair. It is certainly less frizzy and it helps flatten down those annoying flyaway hairs that can make your hair look rough but with this my hair looks much smoother and I don't get so much of a frazzled look. It won't make your hair look perfect and if I am outside and it rains then I will still suffer the frizz but it does help a lot. Because this helps flatten the cuticles it also looks shinier and that's definitely something I need. This comes in three different version, light, orignial and extra-strenght but I tend to stick to this one.
You can buy this original version in a small 25ml bottle which costs £3.89 at Boots or the 50ml I use which is £5.85. Sometimes they go on 3 for 2 offers. A large bottle lasts me about a year and a half with use every other day. So in terms of cost per use it's pretty good.
Summary: Reccommended
