Advantages: None For Me

Disadvantages: Read On

Due to the nature of my job I tend to wear my rather unruly thick hair up in a ponytail for most of the time. Ok yes its convenient as I don't really have to put in much effort in the mornings, however when I wish to go out for the evening I like to spend a bit of time on my locks and wear it down. Seems like a simple concept however this is not always an easy thing to achieve in my case anyway. I have been plagued with frizzy hair for a while now probably due to the abuse I have put it through over the years. The dyeing every colour known to man, hair extensions, perming, straightening, curling tongs. You name it it has been done. I have tried so many different hair care products to try and ease this problem however I have been non to successful in my quest for frizz free hair.

I was in Boots recently picking up sun cream for my well deserved holidays when I noticed a bargain shelf end which was selling off a range of different items for a few pennies. I noticed a little damaged box which I had recognised as being a John Frieda product. Closer inspection revealed that it was Frizz-ease hair serum. I have generally stayed away from this range as I have heard some terrible reviews of it in the past however as the product was only going to set me back a paultry fifty pennies I decided to give it a try. I believe that the usual price for this item is £3.25!!!! The item came in a funky silver box with plastic insert and the little bottle of product inside. I'm not exaggerating when I say little either as there is only 25ml of serum in the container. This was probably another reason why I had not bothered with this in the past. The bottle itself is rather cute however. It has a little pump spray nozzle with a little plastic cap.

This product promises to instantly eliminate frizz and apparently performs miracles on frizz-prone hair. It states that it will instantly smooth and tame split ends fly aways and puffy hair. I remember thinking that this was a bit of a tall order from such a tiny bottle. The manufacturers state that the revolutionary formula infused with silk protein will deliver a layer of crystal-clear gloss for amazingly shiny, frizz-free results whether you style your hair straight or curly. Well it all sounded increasingly promising so I decided that I would need to try this out asap hoping that I had finally found a hair serum which would be the one to finally tame the beast that is my hair!!!!!

Using the serum is incredibly east to do. Simply wash and condition your hair in the usual way. Then towel dry it only. You then dispense a very small amount of the serum (a couple of pea size squirts) into the palms of your hands and rub together. Then simply distribute evenly throughout your hair. It was at this point I realised that I would need another couple of squirts as my hair although shoulder length is extremely thick. This product should remain in the hair and is not to be rinsed out. The serum itself is clear and odourless and is quite a thick liquid which will not run. It feels pleasant when it is being smoothed onto the hair. You then just dry and style your hair in the usual way. Told you simple.

The results: well unfortunately for me the product did not work. I had dried my hair in the usual way and I noticed almost immediately that annoying frizz re-appearing. It wasn't even slightly tamed. I have to say I was extremely disappointed. I wouldn't describe my frizz as particularly bad normally however it was evident. I noticed that the packaging states that it will correct dry, medium frizz which is exactly how I would describe my frizz problem. I ended up straightening my hair and applying my Tigi serum for dry hair over the top and hey presto my frizz vanished. (I think I will just put up with my lot in life and stick with a product that I know genuinely works). I would however state in Frizz-eases defence that my hair did feel softer than normal and was slightly glossy however was this down to frizz-ease or a combination of the two serums I ended up using. Perhaps I have finally discovered the perfect serum combination. Frizz-ease and Tigi!!!!!They should merge.

Summary: Fight the Frizz or Not
