Advantages: Makes curls look glossy, cheap if bought in promotion.
Disadvantages: None.
I often wear my hair curly as I have natural curls and so when I can't be bothered to dry and straighten my hair (as it can take some time to do everyday) I like to leave it to dry naturally. The curls need to be calmed down a bit though as they are frizzy and so I like to use John Frieda's Frizz-Ease hair product range when I do.
As I stated in a previous review on a Frizz-Ease product, I received the hair serum in a gift set that I got for Christmas, which came with a few other Frizz-Ease products. I am glad I got the gift set as the products do not do a good enough job when just used alone, and I do believe that they work best when used with other Frizz-Ease products.
The Original formula serum is labelled step 3 on the bottle. Before using this you should use the Frizz-Ease shampoo and conditioner. I got five products in the gift set and so there are 5 steps all together. I am glad they labelled the bottles in order of how you should use them as after washing my hair I never know what to use first, especially when I have a few products that should all be applied to wet hair.
There are a few hair serums in the Frizz-Ease range by John Frieda, this one is the original formula and you shouldn't use this with any other serum. All serums need to be applied to wet hair and if you use too much then it will just make your hair look greasy, and not glossy. I am not sure if the other serums in the range are good or not as I have only used this one.
To use this serum you apply to soaking wet hair, not towel dried hair. You dispense a small amount onto the palms of your hands and smooth through your wet hair. How much you apply depends on the length of your hair. I usually use 2 - 3 squirts and I have medium length hair. You do not rinse the serum out, and you style your hair as usual after.
I think that this serum really does calm down the frizz in my hair, even when used alone with no other products. I do think it works even better though when used with the other products. I need to apply more product to my hair when I wake up in the morning if I have only used this serum on my wet hair. Whereas if I have applied other products as well as this, I don't need to apply anything else the next morning and my hair is 'calm' enough. It makes my curls look very glossy and not greasy at all, which I was afraid it could when applying the product for the first time, because of the feel of the serum.
I only have a small 25ml bottle as I received this in a gift set and they were all mini products. The full sized 50ml bottle costs around £5.89. If buying with the other products in the range it can be quite expensive unless they are in a promotion. I often see John Frieda products in a promotion in Boots and the other big retailers that sell these products. Asda are currently selling the products at any 3 for £10. So it works out cheap if taking up on this offer, or if like me you get them in a gift set, but these are only available around Christmas time.
Summary: A hair serum that works best when used with other Frizz-Ease products.
