Advantages: The smell

Disadvantages: It may be a little too strong, as I experienced problems.

I began to use Fructis shampoo a couple of years ago, as I had seen the adverts and I was mainly curious to see if my hair could look anything like the actress who tossed and turned her shiny locks.

I have to admit that I do get bored with shampoo and I like to get a new one but this is probably not the best thing for your hair.

Anyway I bought a bottle of the Fructis and I washed my hair. The shampoo lathered up nicely and the following day it looked good, my hair has a tendency to get greasy but it hadn't as yet. I can't say that it was particularly shiny, but it felt nice and smelled good. So I continued to use it for a further few weeks as I was really taken in by the promise of stronger hair and I thought I might notice an improvement after sometime.

As the weeks went on I just carried on using the shampoo and totally forgot about the product.
After a little while I began noticing what seemed an excess of hair on my brush, at first I didn't think much of it but after a little while I was getting more and more hair every time I brushed. It got to the point where it was covering my shoulders each morning when I got ready.
Now fortunately for me I have very thick hair so the excess loss was not noticeable, but I did start to worry especially when I rinsed off my hair in the shower and there was so much in my hand. I showed my mum and after a discussion of whether I was stressed we both came to the conclusion that I should stop using the Fructis.

We both said how strange and unlikely it would be if a large name like Garnier had produced a strengthening shampoo that actually caused hair loss but it was the only thing that I had recently changed in my life that might have pointed to the cause.
Sure enough after using a familiar shampoo my hair loss did stop, though this wasn't instant but I didn't expect it to be.
I know that the hair loss I experienced wasn't horrendous but I don't know whether it would have got worse and everyone is very sensitive about their hair, so you can imagine how worried you can become.

After this experience I did hear similar story's to my own.

Obviously I will never use Fructis again but I still enjoy other Garnier products.

Summary: This shampoo may not be for everyone.

I've never liked Fructis but interestingly when it first came out I actually remember this being all over the television about it causing these same problems in so many people. I've always been shocked that it stayed on the market and people have continued to buy it.
