      The Product

The product I am reviewing is a Volumising Blow Dry Lotion which is made by Fudge. Fudge is a salon brand but their product can be purchased online and they also stock some of the Fudge Hair Care products In Superdrug as well. I decided to purchase this product because I happened to be buying some shampoo and conditioner at the time from the Fudge website so I thought I would see what products they have for adding volume to your hair. I have very fine hair that tends to stay flat and even if I use a volumising product in it, it tends to fall flat rather quickly. I have used a few products in the past that have been ok, but I am yet to try anything that keeps the volume in my hair. I have been impressed with some of the other fudge products so I thought I would give this a try to see what it was like. This product claims to thicken and delivery body to fine hair whilst the Guarana improves elasticity giving your hair extra strength. This sounded like a pretty good product and it also sounded easy to apply so I was willing to give it a go. I just hope I wasn't going to be disappointed! The product comes in a white tube which stands on its flip back lid. The 'Fudge' logo can be clearly seen on the front of the tube and it also states clearly what the product is. On the back of the tube it gives you a little information about the product and how to use it. It also lists the ingredients as well, should you want to know this information. Instructions for using the product are actually printed in a few different languages. The product does look a little like a salon products and not something I would expect to be able to buy from my local supermarket.

I purchased this from the Fudge website (www.fudgehair.co.uk) for £7.11, where it is actually reduced from £10.16. This price is for a 200ml tube of the product.

      Using the Product

This product is for use on damp/towel dried hair. Simple apply a small amount to your hair ensuring that you distribute evenly then simply blow-dry and style as desired. My hair had been wrapped in a towel for a good 5mins so it wasn't dripping wet. Using a wide tooth comb I ran it through my hair to get rid of nay knots or slight tangles. I flipped the lid of the tube back and squeezed it slightly to dispense a small amount of the product into the palm of my other hand. The product came out quickly and is more like a gel rather than a lotion. It looked as though it had a slight pink tinge to it as well. They do tell you to use a small amount so I used an amount around the size of 2p. I rubbed my hands together slightly and then applied this to my hair ensuring that I got all the lengths and the ends. The product was easy to apply to my hair and didn't leave my hands feeling sticky or tacky like some other products do. I blow dried my hair as usual and after I had finished I ran a brush through it and looked at the results.

      Results

After blow drying my hair I noticed that it definitely had a little more volume that what it normally would after blow drying. It also looked a little thicker as well and didn't look so fine. I decided to style my hair as normal and use hair straighteners. I was hoping this wasn't going to flatten my hair too much. After styling my hair and finishing it off how I normally would I looked at the results and was quite pleased. My hair still had a good amount of volume in it and my hair felt soft and bouncy. Although my hair felt soft I did have quite a few wispy hairs about so I think the product did make my hair slightly frizzy in some part. These stray hairs easily flattened down easily with some hair spray so it wasn't really anything to worry about. During the day my hair felt light and bouncy and didn't feel weighed down at all like some styling products do.

Although the product did have a slight scent to it when applying it, the scent of the product was no longer noticeable. This didn't bother me as although the scent was nice it wasn't that strong to start off with anyway so I didn't really expect it to last very long. The volume stayed in my hair for the majority of the day although I did have to ruffle my fingertips at the roots a little to get a little of the volume back. The product was kind to my hair and scalp and didn't cause any reactions such as itching. The day after applying the product to my hair I did think that I may need to wash it; how-ever I was pleased when waking up in the morning to find that my hair still felt and looked clean. Although the volume looked like it had gone, after tipping my head upside down and applying a little hair spray the volume soon came back to give me nice bouncy hair for a 2nd day. I always wash my hair every 3rd day so I can't comment on how the product made my hair looked on this day. The gel washed out my hair easily using my normal shampoo and left no residue in my hair.

      Overall Opinion

I have tried some other products in the Fudge range and have found them to be reasonably good so I expected this product to give some good results. Although they describe this product as a lotion, I personally think it's more of a gel as it has the same consistency and same sort of colour you would expect from a hair gel. The product is really easy to apply to your hair and there is no need to use huge amounts of it. My hair is just past my shoulder and a 2p size amount of gel was enough for my hair. The scent of the product is very light and isn't very noticeable, even when applying it to your hair. I was a little surprised by this but it didn't really bother me anyway. After blow drying my hair I could definitely see the results from using this product as it had added a decent amount of volume to my hair without making it look massive or too big. Even after using straighteners, my hair still had volume to it.

I loved the way this product made my hair felt really light and bouncy and didn't weigh it down at all. With a little hair spray the volume stayed in my hair for the majority of the day which I was very pleased with. I was surprised that the day after applying the product that I just needed to spritz a little hairspray in my hair to get the volume back again. In terms of value I think the product is actually very reasonable as you do only need to use a small amount of the product each time which means that it is long lasting and will last me a good few months if not longer as I don't use this product all the time and only occasionally. This product is mainly for fine, flat hair so if you have quite thick hair then this product probably isn't suitable for you, unless you want really big, massive looking hair. Although the product did give my hair some volume the results didn't blow me away which makes me unsure whether I would purchase this product again or not. If you like a little volume in your hair without it looking too big or feeling weighed down then this is a good product but I think I could probably find a similar product for a cheaper price, I just need to keep looking!
