I didn't actually buy this product, Garnier Fructis shampoo is one I buy when there is nothing else on offer as it is only £1 a bottle, I ordered some in my online shopping and this one came aswell although it wasn't on my bill.
The product comes in a bright green bottle and has a little orange symbol on the front, the bottle is made of plastic so easy to squeeze out the product and there is a flip top lid on it so no trying to unscrew it with wet hands.
The shampoo is a white colour but has a pearly look to it, it smells really fruity which I like and it is pretty thick in consistency. I found that this lathered really easily on my hair and that it then rinsed out of my hair easily to, I didn't feel like there was any residue left on my hair either.
It states on the bottle "strengthens your hair from the inside and smoothes from root to tip to leave you with frizz free hair even when it's humid" I was pleasantly surprised that this shampoo did seem to improve the frizz on my hair as so many I have tried claim to and don't deliver. I washed my hair every two days when using this product and found that by day two the frizz was back so the effects don't last long enough.
I would use this product again it smells nice is a good price and left my hair soft and manageable I just wish the effects were stronger and lasted longer which is why I only rate it 4 stars.
- Introduction -
My hair is naturally curly and as a result tends to be quite frizzy especially when it is humid. While I was a student and unemployed I was using quite cheap shampoos on my hair which really were not helping the frizz. A few months later I was in Poundland and noticed this shampoo and its accompanying conditioner - as it was a bargain I just had to buy it. It had to be better than the cheap cheap stuff that I was using!
- The shampoo -
This shampoo is clearly aimed at those with frizzy hair. It comes in the usual Garnier Fructis style bottle (green with a difficult to open lid). When smelling the shampoo out of the bottle it is quite sweet and sickly but once it is lathered into the hair the sickly smell isn't so apparent and is actually quite nice. The shampoo lathers very nicely, it is a very luxurious feeling foam that instantly makes you hair feel smoother. You do not need a lot of shampoo to get a nice lather either; so you are getting good value for money.
The bottle claims to strengthen your hair from the inside and smoothed from end to tip to leave you with frizz-free hair even when its humid.
My hair has always been quite strong so I can't comment on the effectiveness of this claim but I can on the frizz-free claim. It has been my experience that this shampoo does help fight frizz. I have noticed that my hair is definitely not so frizzy even when its humid (I work as a care assistant so have to shower people which means being stuck in steamy bathrooms). I wouldn't say that my hair stays frizz-free but this product has done a wonderful job at getting there. My hair will never be frizz-free (or at least I haven't found anything that does make my hair frizz free without being greasy). This shampoo may not be exactly perfect but it gives me nearly completely frizz free hair without leaving my hair feeling greasy. For this I cannot make any complaints about the product.
My hair looks a lot more healthy since using this product as well as being less frizzy. It feels smooth and smells great. I feel a lot happier about my hair and I feel it sits nicer as well.
- Price and Availability -
The shampoo comes in 250ml bottles. I picked mine up for £1 in Poundland but the product should be available in most health and beauty stores. I have also seen it in Semi-Chem for £1.25 which is also reasonably priced.
In terms of value for money this product definitely has it. It works well at fighting frzz and lasts a good length of time all while costing a pound or two.
- Conclusion -
I would definitely recommend this product to those with frizzy hair. To those without frizzy hair there are other products in the Fructis range that may be more suited to your hair and I would recommend them too on the basis of the quality of this product. Well priced and effective - what more could you want.
I was in Asda and noticed that they had a promotion on four items for three pounds on various body care type products and so I bought into the deal and one of the items I bought was the Garnier Fructis frizz tamer shampoo.
The shampoo comes in a green bottle with the product name on the front. We are also told quite predominantly across the middle of the bottle that the product gives "sleek and shine" for frizzy hair. The bottle had a weird flip top lid on which I have found quite difficult to flip up if my hands are wet....which they tend to be if I am in the shower or bath! On one occasion I had to open the lid with my teeth and got a horrible shampoo taste in my mouth so it would be nice if the lid was easier to open! The bottle is 250ml which I think is pretty standard for a shampoo.
Now my hair is prone to a bit of frizzing at times particularly when I have got it up and there is any moisture in the air. This shampoo claims to strengthen the hair inside as well as smoothing it from the outside leaving it protected against the effects of humidity by using its fortifying fruit complex. I was looking forward to trying this shampoo and was hoping that the claims would be true.
When I first used this shampoo after finally getting the bottle lid open I noticed that the shampoo had a very fruity scent to it. I normally love fruity scents but to me this smell is just too artificial smelling and to be honest it makes me feel a little bit sick. I used a small blob of the shampoo on my hair and massaged it in. The shampoo does massage well into the hair and the smell is very prominent. For some people this may be a good thing but for me, with this shampoo it just wasn't.
When I dried my hair I noticed that my hair did seem a little bit less frizzy. Unfortunately I think this was to do with the fact that my hair appeared to be quite greasy, despite having only just washed it. I had to wash my hair the very next day as it was just too greasy to go without which is not usual for my hair.
I am really disappointed with this shampoo to be honest as it makes some big claims but for me it just didn't live up to those and I will not be using the shampoo again. I cannot recommend this product because of the effect it had on my hair but perhaps it would work for some people.
Thank you for reading my review!
