Advantages: effective, well priced, hair is less frizzy without being greasy, hair looks a lot healthier
Disadvantages: Hair isn't completely frizz-free but then nothing makes my hair frizz free.
- Introduction -
My hair is naturally curly and as a result tends to be quite frizzy especially when it is humid. While I was a student and unemployed I was using quite cheap shampoos on my hair which really were not helping the frizz. A few months later I was in Poundland and noticed this shampoo and its accompanying conditioner - as it was a bargain I just had to buy it. It had to be better than the cheap cheap stuff that I was using!
- The shampoo -
This shampoo is clearly aimed at those with frizzy hair. It comes in the usual Garnier Fructis style bottle (green with a difficult to open lid). When smelling the shampoo out of the bottle it is quite sweet and sickly but once it is lathered into the hair the sickly smell isn't so apparent and is actually quite nice. The shampoo lathers very nicely, it is a very luxurious feeling foam that instantly makes you hair feel smoother. You do not need a lot of shampoo to get a nice lather either; so you are getting good value for money.
The bottle claims to strengthen your hair from the inside and smoothed from end to tip to leave you with frizz-free hair even when its humid.
My hair has always been quite strong so I can't comment on the effectiveness of this claim but I can on the frizz-free claim. It has been my experience that this shampoo does help fight frizz. I have noticed that my hair is definitely not so frizzy even when its humid (I work as a care assistant so have to shower people which means being stuck in steamy bathrooms). I wouldn't say that my hair stays frizz-free but this product has done a wonderful job at getting there. My hair will never be frizz-free (or at least I haven't found anything that does make my hair frizz free without being greasy). This shampoo may not be exactly perfect but it gives me nearly completely frizz free hair without leaving my hair feeling greasy. For this I cannot make any complaints about the product.
My hair looks a lot more healthy since using this product as well as being less frizzy. It feels smooth and smells great. I feel a lot happier about my hair and I feel it sits nicer as well.
- Price and Availability -
The shampoo comes in 250ml bottles. I picked mine up for £1 in Poundland but the product should be available in most health and beauty stores. I have also seen it in Semi-Chem for £1.25 which is also reasonably priced.
In terms of value for money this product definitely has it. It works well at fighting frzz and lasts a good length of time all while costing a pound or two.
- Conclusion -
I would definitely recommend this product to those with frizzy hair. To those without frizzy hair there are other products in the Fructis range that may be more suited to your hair and I would recommend them too on the basis of the quality of this product. Well priced and effective - what more could you want.
Summary: Excellent shampoo from a trusted brand. Leaves hair looking, feeling and smelling better.
