~Fructis Repair and Shine Shampoo~
Fructis is a hair care range manufactured by Garnier. Today I will be discussing my views on the 'Repair and Shine' shampoo. A matching conditioner is also available.
This shampoo is designed for use by those who have dry or damaged hair. Garnier state that it will leave your hair silky, soft and shiny. It contains three oils which have different roles :
*Shea oil (check for allergies relating to shea butter content) - to leave hair silky to the touch
*Avocado oil - for a conditioning effect
*Olive oil - to nourish and give your hair a shiny appearance
The outer packaging of this shampoo seems to vary between a green bottle and a yellow bottle. The bottle itself is made of squeezy plastic and features a flip top lid. The design is attractive and simple with the essential product information being present. This product carries as 12 month lifespan from first use and the bottle can be recycled.
~Price and Availability~
On the highstreet, a 250ml bottle of this shampoo can be found in bargain stores including B&Ms, Home Bargains and Poundland. It seems to be a regular addition to their beauty shelves too and the normal price is around £1.00 a bottle.
When we went to Blackpool at the start of May, we decided to buy the bulk of our toiletries when we got there and save some suitcase space! We bought a number of products from Home Bargains including this Fructis shampoo and the matching conditioner. I have used Garnier hair care products before with good results and was happy to pay 89p for each bottle. I have used this for the past few weeks and so has my fiancé. We mainly use both the shampoo and conditioner together but I have, at times, used the shampoo as a stand alone product.
The shampoo itself is a creamy white colour is reasonably thick. The scent of this shampoo is gorgeous - fruity, sweet and with a soapy undertone which allows it to smell perfectly clean and refreshing. I wash my hair three times a week normally but find this shampoo to be suitable for daily use as it is gentle and not too heavy. A dispense a reasonable sized dollop of this shampoo onto my hand and find that it lathers up incredibly well when it becomes in contact with my wet hair. My hair is down past my shoulders and is very thick so I often need extra shampoo but a little goes a long way with this shampoo. My fiancé has very short cut hair and needs very little per use.
The lather created by this shampoo is creamy and rich. It feels very conditioning and is gentle against my sensitive scalp. I do find that the shampoo takes a little longer to rinse out than other shampoos but not much longer. I love the way my hair feels and looks after washing it even if I do not follow with the conditioner. My hair feels soft and silky smooth. I have dry hair and find that the shampoo alone is enough to combat the dryness and leaves my hair feeling stronger and healthier.
The main aspect of a shampoo in my opinion is how clean your hair feels. I cannot complain about this one at all as my hair is left perfectly clean and refreshed. My hair feels beautifully nourished and is easy to manage with the shampoo alone. The fruity scent lingers for a short while. I colour my hair and find that this shampoo hasn't caused any noticeable colour reduction which is an added bonus. My colour remains shiny and fresh. My fiancés short, normal hair is left clean and super soft. He doesn't find the scent too feminine either and is happy to use this shampoo.
In terms of how long the effects of this shampoo lasts, I am more than happy with it. If I use the shampoo alone, I can go 2-3days without my hair feeling unclean. I do find that if I don't use the conditioner, my hair does start to go slightly dry and frizzy after a day or so. I do prefer to use both products together for ultimate results. With both products used together, my hair is left ultra smooth and hydrated for longer with no evident build up of product.
This is a great buy at 89p or even at £1.00. It leaves my hair feeling great and I have noticed an improvement in the strength and quality of my hair from regular use of this shampoo (and the conditioner). It is very gentle and hasn't agitated my already irritated scalp. It is nourishing, smells gorgeous and my hair benefits from the moisturising oils within this shampoo. I will buy this again as it represents good value for money but I tend to switch about with hair care products to ensure my hair doesn't become too used to the one product. Our 250ml bottle is around 1/4 full now which I would say is great given how much it has been used by the two of us. Highly recommend!
