Advantages: Good effect without being too heavy, nice smell.

Disadvantages: Use sparingly or you'll have to rewash your hair.

I've recently had my medium length hair loped off to a new funkier shorter style. Partly because I've always prefered it shorter and partly beacuase my adorable little baby was using my head as a play gym. Owww.

As my hair has been longer, I didn't have any suitable styling products so off to the shops I went.

I have fine hair and I find it hard to get styling products that don't weigh my hair down. I've learnt from previous experience that waxes, even if used in very small amounts, just don't work for me. This Garnier product is marketed as a "Texturizing Gum" so I thought I'd give it a go.

The product itself reminds me a bit of putty (the stuff my dad used to put around the window frames to keep the galss in place), it's a grey-beige colour and is a thick gloopy gum, sounds revolting but actually it's not bad at all. The smell is absolutely gorgeous - fruity and zesty.

You only need (or I only need perhaps) a tiny amount of this product to make a difference. My tip is to rub over your hands and then apply to prevent "localising" the product into one bit of your hair.

The effect it has is very good, strong hold without making the hair sticky or hard. I find that 10 minutes after applying it, it settles a bit, so don't worry if you think you've overdone it at first.

If you do put too much in however it will look pretty awful and the only way to get it out is to wash your hair, so use sparingly and add more if needed.

The packaging is nice, lemon and lime colours, easy to open packaging and good size. I bought in a special offer for but I think it was about £4.50 full price and is widely available in supermarkets/chemists.

Overall, I was really pleased with this product, good value and decent performance with a lovely smell.

Summary: Good value and effect.

I'm with plipplop, I used to use it and it was very hit and miss. I haven't used hair styling products in years though!

Don't get on with this - if you use more than a minute amount, it goes mad and your hair goes horrible.
