Advantages: Works fantastically well, easy to use, cheap price tag
Disadvantages: None
I have said in previous reviews that I like to look good and I am happy to take a few hours to get ready if it means I feel comfortable when I am going out on the town. I have a set routine which is now almost like a ritual when I am getting ready to go out and I spend an amazing amount of time on my prized asset - my hair.
Having long blonde hair which looks good all of the time leads to me getting a lot of compliments and it makes me feel proud that someone notices the effort I have gone too, to look good.
After washing and drying my hair I always use my GHD ceramic straighteners to ensure I get smooth sleek straight locks. My blonde locks are quite flyaway and by that I mean my hair isn't thick, so getting it super sleek is never a problem, keeping it that was is. Now I've tried a wide variety of products on my hair and to be honest I hate hairspray, I think it is tacky, it smells vile and I don't like the feeling of having my hair clumped together being sticky and also with hairspray if you go into a club where it is quite humid the hairspray melts away. So I wanted something that would keep my hair straight and sleek but bouncy and movable at the same time so it looked perfectly natural.
To get that look I wanted I had expected to either never find a product or have to pay footballers wives prices to achieve it and to be honest I would have paid the money, that's how serious I am about having my hair perfected.
I have always been a fan of the GHD range, I have pretty much tried all of the shampoo and conditioners designed for my hairy type and I love them but I had tried any products in what they call the Step 4 part of having beautiful locks. In the Step 4 section you can expect to find sculpting wax and hair serum for example to finish off your style and leave you ready for a night out. I decided to try the GHD Fixation spray - Firm Hold.
The GHD Fixation spray - Firm Hold Is presented to me in a 150ml brown bottle, the usual looking packaging that GHD products are sold in and on the front of the bottle is the GHD Logo and the lid is easy to pull off and remove leaving a nozzle which you use to distribute the lotion inside. The GHD Fixation spray works like a hairspray in many respects in that when it is sprayed it produces a light mist which oddly enough is not in anyway sticky, it is like applying water to your hair only it dries super fast and doesn't leave any sticky residue or build up like you sometimes get with hairspray where when you use a little too much your hair goes quite hard and unmovable until you try to come it out and it looks like you have the worst case of dandruff ever. The GHD Fixation spray is as easy to remove as it is to apply and all you have to do is brush your hair once your night out is finished.
The best and really only time you should be using this spray is when your hair is completely dry to allow it to sit and hold your hairstyle in place, once you have finished with your hair straighteners or whatever it is you use, you apply the product. If you have wavy or curly hair again it works just as well. To apply the product you simply spritz it like you would a hairspray over your hair and allow it to settle and dry, it is very quick drying.
The first thing I noticed when I first started to use this product is that once you have applied it you cannot actually tell it is there, there is no overpowering smells like you would get with hairspray and I have found it quite difficult to distinguish any kind of smell at all, the only reason I know it is upon my hair is because I've used a mirror to apply it and seen it settle upon my hair.
I like this product because it does retain your hairstyle whilst looking natural, I can go out knowing that even if it is slightly windy outside my hair will not look like I've been dragged through a hedge backwards, it simply sets back into position, a bit like I have Velcro attached to my hair snapping it back into position. It also adds a fantastic shine to my hair as well and I love the overall look it gives me.
When you wash your hair and comb through every trace of the product is removed leaving no residue or build up and all for the bargain price of £12.95. I purchased my spray direct from the GHD website although it is available online at many different outlets ranging in price from £8.95 to £12.95
I am a big fan of this product and I am happy I didn't have to pay a footballers wife price to achieve the look I wanted. If you like me want sleek locks which stay in place then I may just have found that perfect product.
For information purposes, this product is not shipped outside of the mainland UK as stated on the GHD website where you can check for more information and details.
