Advantages: easy & quick to use. great results.
Disadvantages: expensive
Hubby was talked into buying these GHDs for my younger daughter a couple of years ago but I have to say I'm the only one who uses them everyday & I'm dreading it when my daughter leaves home in October to start uni as there's no way I can afford to buy another set for £110!
They're basically a very good ceramic plated straightening & styling device which are very easy to use & heat up within moments. I've read that you should use a protective spray before use but I don't use one all the time & my hair is in lovely condition even though the rest of me is falling to bits!
The straighteners come in attractive black & gold box along with a heatproof mat & directions on how to use etc. It couldn't be simpler - just plug in & starting at the top of the hair just glide through the hair working systematically until you achieve the desired effect.
My daughters & I all have shoulder length hair & we find the whole process of doing a good straightening job only takes us approximately 10 minutes. Obviously if you use the GHD spray (around £9) & spend longer doing your hair you get a much better ('just left the salon') look.
We used to have cheaper straighteners but these GHDs are far superior in our opinion as they heat up more quickly, get hotter & because they are more heavy you seem to be able to control them a lot better.
Having pointed out the positive aspects of the GHDs I suppose I should tell you the negatives but to truthful I can't see any. The only thing I would say is be careful when you handle them as I did burn my finger one day but that was carelessness on my part not the appliance being faulty.
These have been a great investment as far as I'm concerned - I like to have straight & shiny hair & GHDs achieve this effect when used according to the directions.
summary
~
- heat up almost instantly.
- do what they're supposed to.
- expensive but cheaper than going to hairdressers so, in my opinion a good investment.
- heavier than cheaper straighteners but easier to control.
- recommended by all 3 of us.
-
Summary: the best straighteners I've ever used
