Advantages: Great for straightening.

Disadvantages: Expensive.

I have fairly unruly hair. It is neither straight or wavy it is annoyingly in between and therefore I have to either straighten or curl my hair to make it appear hafl decent. When GHDs first came out I saw how amazing they made my friends hair look and she had far crazier hair than me, so I begged and begged my Mum for some and eventually got some for my birthday.

They come in a small rectangular box and instead of an instruction booklet they sent a DVD which was unique, however it served mainly to advertise their products. Once you press the on switch the straighteners heat up very quickly and the light comes on and flashes red when they are ready to use. They are very hot so mind out that you do no burn yourself. The handles are well insulated and therefore make them easier to use. You can buy these in three sizes, pencil thin (for those with short spikey hair), normal width and extra thick for longer hair. GHD often release special editions, such as the purple ones and leopard print ones, sometimes you can get them in a set, but to me this seems like just another money making exercise.

When GHDs first came out they were unrivalled. However, now other companies have developed the ceramic plate technology I feel thatif you shop around you can get as good, or nearly as good, for much cheaper.
