Advantages: Silky smooth hair in minutes

Disadvantages: Seem to die after two years

I have used GHD hairstraighteners for the past 5 or 6 years.

I was drawn in by their good reputation and high promises, and for a retail price of £80 - 100 plus, I was hoping that they lived up to their name.

I was not disappointed, and I am now on my third lot of GHDs.

GHD hair straighteners leave your hair poker straight and silky soft, with relatively little effort. If they had been invented 10 years earlier I would have been a much happier teenager!

They heat up super quick, in approximately 10 - 15 seconds, a little longer than claimed, but who can moan about waiting 15 seconds for something to heat up to 230c!

They beep when you switch them on, then beep again when they are up to their optimum temperature. From then on you can use the straighteners to great effect.

My hair is quite long, and it takes me all of ten minutes to straighten my hair with these straighteners, and so long as I do it thoroughly, it stays straight all day (so long as the dreaded rain doesn't get me!).

One bad thing about GHDs is that in my experience they tend to have a fairly short life span. As I said I have been using GHDs for about 5 - 6 years, and I am on my third pair. That said, they seem to last about two years before they either die completely, or do not straighten as well as they once did.

So in conclusion, they are the best on the market, but I do feel because of their seemingly short life spans, they should not be as expensive as they are. I think the price tag is due to very clever marketing, rather than pure quality of the product.

In the past when my GHDs have failed me, I have used my friend's Remington straighteners, and being honest, as much as I love GHD and am loyal to them, they did pretty much the same job and straightened my hair perfectly fine, and cost my friend a mere £30.

Summary: They work great, but are pricey!
