Advantages: gives that 'just come out of the hairdresser' look & feel

Disadvantages: like to wash my hair a bit more often

Although I use GHDs to straighten my shoulder-length hair everyday I've never used any special products on it. I've seen both my daughters occasionally use this GHD Iron Oil but it wasn't until the other day that I tried it myself.

I was tempted because of the effect on my younger daughter's (& friend's) hair plus the gorgeous smell when they'd finished using it.

The bottle is exactly as shown & is very smart with it's black & gold design. It's made of a durable plastic & has a pump action dispenser which means you can just squirt sparingly as directed. I'd advise just spraying a little onto the top of the hair as the GHDs will ensure that the oil's evenly spread once you start to starighten.

Don't let the word 'oil' put you off - it's not at all greasy or oily. It seems to freshen & soften the hair as long as you don't use too much & the GHDs go through it even better than when used on their own.

Admittedly I spent a little longer on my hair than usual but having used this Iron Oil I felt as if I'd just come out of the hairdresser's & it stayed straighter for longer. I was well impressed as it only cost around £9 for 250ml & lasts for ages although I think I'd only use it for special/important occasions or to cheer myself up?


It gives lots of information on the bottle regarding ingredients but I would need to get my magnifying glass out to read them I'm afraid. The directions are clear though.

Although it says 'for use with GHD ceramic hairstyling irons I can't see why you can't use it with any other ceramic ones. I'm not quite sure what they mean by 'a new religion for hair' though?

The only thing I've found after using it that whereas I used to wash my hair every other day, after using Iron Oil I prefer to wash it daily as I'm one of those people who don't like texture on my locks.
