Advantages: May protect your hair from heat, but you're going to frazzle the hell out of it with GHDs anyway

Disadvantages: Smells nasty, weighs down hair, makes it dull and hard to style.

When I bought my GHDs I ended up with a bottle of GHD iron oil free, which is a pretty good deal as the stuff is USELESS. I would definitely be a bit peeved had I had to pay for this product (and knowing GHD you'd probably pay through the nose for it too!).

First off, how odd is it that they describe something that's called IRON OIL as "oil free" in the write-up? Talk about a misnomer. In fact I find the whole idea of iron oil pretty offputting - it sounds like grease in a bottle, doesn't it? And the fact is, it does make your hair feel somewhat oily. I'm no hairdresser, so i can only really say it reminds me of the feeling when you forget to completely wash out your conditioner - it leaves a not-quite-there coating on your hair which does nothing but weigh it down and make it dull. There are hair-protection sprays and heat-proof sprays that additionally make hair soft and shiny (I'm a big fan of the Trésemme one) but this makes it lank and hard to manage, and I've noticed no beneficial results from it thus far!

Another thing I have to mention about this product is the smell. It's not even slightly pleasant - it's just chemical. Nowadays I think it's rare for hair products not to at least ATTEMPT to mask a dodgy smell, and this one is just nasty. I can't describe what it's like (sort of like nail varnish remover is the best I can do) but it just doesn't smell like it would be good for your hair!

Personally I am unconvinced about GHD styling products, with the exception of the straighteners. I don't think they are salon quality, and I definitely would not buy this spray!

Summary: Don't fall for the brand name! This product is poor!
