About GHD
Ghd Mk 4 (good hair day) hair straighteners have now become the most wanted hair styler on the market, the Mk4 have been improved immensely compared to the older Mk3 straightener. Not only have the Ghd stylers become part of every girls every day life but most hair salons alike relay on them.
Ghd have designed the Mk4 straightener to fit in with every one, in my personal opinion this Mk4 version is much better than the MK3 and carries features that everyone will benefit from.
Granted these straighteners are very over priced and at one time I refused to pay the 130.00 price bracket, but since getting a pair at Christmas 2005 I have never gone back, these really are the best straighteners and great value from money, I had a Mk3 set until earlier this year and the upgraded to the Mk4 set, even thought he Mk 3 are still in perfect working order.
Ghd Straighteners
These ghd stylers come in many different designs to suit every one.
The mini stylers are designed for short hair and work really well for men who like to straighten there hair, with the barrel on this styler being smaller it is also great for creating smaller tighter curls.
The Mk4 limited edition straightener, is by far the most sort after as it is bright pink and contains a heat mat, bad and styling DVD. You can expect to ay more for this version but they do look the part. These also have a smoother barrel so you can create curls easily.
The standard professional straighteners are exactly the same as the pink ones only they are black, it you go to a salon these tend to the stylers that the salon will use and carry a lot of them in stock.
The large wide plate salon stylers, is designed for thicker and longer hair types, this way you can work thought he hair quickly, I if these are great to use on wirey or even afore hair.
Why is the Ghd Mk 4 Different?
If you are wondering why the Mk4 is better then the 3.0 and 3.2 stylers then here are the benefits, that ghd have added to hake this a better straightener.
The Mk4 straightener has a smoother rounder barrel, unlike the square flat edge barrel that the Mk3 consists of, this makes it very easy to incorporate curls and flicks into any style. These styles are so easy to do with this styling iron, that you can do then yourself to crate a just out of salon style.
I favorite feature in the sleep mode, the Mk3 never had this and I was always returning home from work without turning them off, with the Mk4 they automatically shut down after 30 minutes, if they have not been used.
Another feature that is new to me is the shiver mode, if your straighteners are stored in a place below 8 degrees they hay can break, with the Mk4 the straightener will shut off until the temperature rises again.
They not only added smooth plates, advanced heaters but the plates have been designed to give you smooth shiny hair that is not static.
When the straighners have reached the heat needed to straighten hair, they will beep to let you know they are heated and ready to go.
I love the fact the straighteners can be used abroad, as the voltage changes automatically, just undo the plug and you will have a 2 prong plug that can be used anywhere in the world, I love it and I never need a travel adaptor.
You will get a years warranty from the place you purchase these from and the an additional years warranty with GHD, so the 130.00 price is not bad if they last two years.
Prices.
As I have said these can be very expensive, but I fell they are worth every penny paid. As you do get you warranty and they do the job perfectly.
For the limited editions and coloured GHDs you can expect to pay 130.00, but you will get extras that are not included with the other stylers.
The mini iron can cost 109.00.
The standard straightener will cost 119.00.
The wide salon straightener will also cost 119.00.
These are the recommended retail prices, so you may be able to find the cheaper elsewhere, I have noticed that salons do vary so I would recommend you shop around as you could save up to 20.00 on a set, I have also seen these cheaper on ebay but you then run the risk of fake goods, and that's if they even turn up.
The web site.
If you want to buy directly from ghd you can visit there web site www.ghd.com this will allow to buy online, register your ghds to qualify for the warranty and even get a list of your local stockists.
Remember with all new ghds you do need to register them online of by post, otherwise you will not qualify for the 2 year warranty, this way they have proof of when you bought them. If you don't register they don't have to sort them free of charge.
My opinion
I never entertained paying the prices for these until I got bought a pair as a gift, since then I have never looked back, these really are the best they leave the hair all sleek and smooth effortlessly.
The one thing that bugs me is when you get a new set they tend to leave lines in the hair, that are almost impossible to removed unless you wet it, I have learned that is you spray hair spray on the new plates this avoids that.
I have now gone on to buy the Mk 4 pink straighteners, but I wish I had saved the money as they are identical to the standard straighteners only the colour is different.
Summary: Great for everyone who straightens, Once you go there u will never go back.
