Advantages: great styling iron

Disadvantages: expensive but well worth it

GHD's

When I was young I remember straightening my with an iron which by the way is extremely bad for your hair and leaves a line in it because it doesn't get to the root but my straightners which I used which were a cheap pair from Argos I think they weren't getting my hair as straight as I wanted. That was until my 16th birthday and my mum bought me a pair of GHD's. I was starting my hairdressing coarse and these are a must have for a hairdresser.

About GHD'S

GHD's started of being sold from a garage and famously had a batch that went on fire when customers were using them but they recalled them and fixed the problem and I haven't heard any complaints since within a year they were all over the salons and a best seller. These straightners don't just get your hair poker straight they can curl it, flick it out and turn it in they can practically do any style that you want. Sadly after years of abuse my straightners broke and at the time I didn't have any money to replace them so I bought a cheap pair from boots which were useless when you're used to GHD's no other staightner comes close thankfully me and my mum went in and bought a pair between us.

The new GHD's have had a few improvements since buying my last pair. Like the last pair they heat up to 210 degrees but this time when you switch them on they beep to let you know they are on they heat up to the maximum temperature in around 6 seconds and when they do they beep twice to let you know. The plates are ceramic that's why they heat up so fast and the barrel on these straightners are slightly more rounded so it's easier to curl or flick the hair. They also have a sleep mode which turn off themselves if you forget within half an hour which is really handy because I'm always worrying when I leave the house if I have turned off the straightners. The plates are also smooth so they don't catch the hair and split it. They also have them in a hot pink colour, white and black so you can match to your bedroom or salon.

Advertising

GHD's are now being advertised on the TV they always have been advertised as 'a new religion of hair' and the 'gospel of GHD'. The new advertisement for GHD is the 'thou shalt not be afraid' with a woman walking in with her hair smooth with soft curls she walk in again and its straight and saying that 'thou shall not be afraid to make an entrance' she walks in again this time with her hair curled and it says 'thou shalt never be the same girl twice' the advertising is appealing because it shows that they are a multi purpose styler. They have lots of catchy ads to look out for advertising their product.

Overall

I would highly recommend these straightners they cost around £100 which is a bit expensive but well worth it but I would recommend looking around first you can buy these in salons, hair and beauty suppliers or you can buy them straight of the GHD site sometimes they have offers like a free heat proof mat or a thermal protector which I would recommend using because these straightners are very hot. They can be used on any type of hair and give a dramatic difference and they are really easy used. They have made styling hair easy at home.

Summary: a new relgion for hair
