Advantages: Style excellently and give lasting style
Disadvantages: None
Before I had tried GHD's I was not convinced a styler could be so good and what all the fuss was about people raved about them!!
Price- £120 retail price. Seems expensive but they are worth every penny if you use straighteners regularly. I was lucky to get mine from a wholesaler for £70 but I would have paid £150 they are that good. They save me so so much time as I only have to straighten my hair once a day, and takes half the time I used to with my old straighteners.
The design is plain and simple. Smooth and easy to hold. They are also light so if you are using to create a style that takes a bit longer your arm is less likely to ache.
The plates heat up very quickly. Unlike some stylers they are easy to operate plug in and flick the on off switch. No messing around with setting the temperature heats up to a standard 200C. At first I was sceptical friends and family telling me your hair stays shiny and doesn't get as damaged by the use of these. But I really have to agree... my hair certainly does not appear heat damaged like it used to. And after using these to straighten and even curl my hair it looks so shiny without any product on to achieve these.
Styling hair with these is really easy. Straight hair- I have long think hair and it takes me 10 minutes maximum and it lasts all day even in damp weather. I have even straightened before bed and woke up the next morning only having to brush my hair as it was still really straight.
The main plus is styling hair to achieve curls. A full head of curls can be achieved within 30 mins. Grad a 5cm section of hair twist it around the styler. I have naturally straight hair and curling my hair has always been a nightmare and curls drop out and I end up at with straight hair after only 2 hours no matter what I put on them. Using the GHD's the curls last all day and even the next day after sleeping on them its still very wavy.
A tip is if you have fine hair as you straighten lift the hair for volume. This tip never worked with my previous straighteners (which set me back £80) but with GHD's it adds volume and you get poker straight hair without it looking flat to your head!
Nothing compares after using GHD's. I used a friends pair of Mark Hill straighteners which have good reviews and retail at £100. They just don't live up to GHD's , my hair was not as shiny, didn't stay styled in the way I wanted.
All I can say is buy a pair you will be converted. Shiny hair, easy to use and style your hair with, and the styles last. Just make sure you take them everywhere with you.
Summary: The best hair stylers you will come across

- 16/02/09 Having tried these, they're very cool, but I don't think the money can be justified purely because they only have a years warranty. |
