Advantages: Heats quickly to high temperatures, ceramic technology
Disadvantages: Can only buy online or in hairdressers, needs to be kept away from young children
I received GHD Mk4 Straighteners as a gift for my birthday about 8 months ago, and I have to say these are one of the best hair straighteners on the market today. You can only however buy them from hairdressers, or online.
It came with thermal protector, and creation spray. The thermal protector helps prevent any permanent damage the exceeding heat the straighteners give off and the creation spray helps you create different styles for your hair. Of course I'm not going to be able to fully determine whether the heat protection actually works, but I can say the creation spray didn't really give me any benefit. It all depends which sprays you choose to accompany the straighteners, if you are interested in getting a package. I also found them both to be too oily, and the smell wasn't too appealing either.
My initial reaction when first receiving the straighteners though was good. The package looked very professional, and it was easy to open, and once I did open it, I saw the straighteners and was delighted. It was much smaller than I thought it would be which was good for me. If you're looking for a pretty compact straightener, this is probably the one. It's so easy to store in my room anywhere I would like to put it, and that's the great thing about it, so if I'm not using it, it just goes straight back to the draw - simple. Also, if you worry you may accidentally leave it on such, there is no need to worry, as it automatically switches to sleep mode which disables its functionality, after 30 minutes of not using it.
Because of it's revolutionary ceramic technology, it enables you to be able to have ultimate control when you're hair styling. Another of it's best features from this hair straightener, is how quickly, it heats up to a high temperature. The secret to its success, is the built in microprocessor inside the straightener, which is the key to having it conduct the heat so fast. I must express how much this feature actually benefits, and eases hair styling so much more than others. It's so important to get a straightener that has the potential of getting up to a lot of heat. It reduces the amount of time it takes to straighten your hair, and keeps your hair straight for the rest of the day. The disadvantage of that is it's more likely damages your hair. There are lots of products which can protect it (I'd advise you not to get special GHDs one, because firstly they're more expensive, secondly they're not that great) and so it shouldn't become too much of a hassle anyhow. You can buy some from Superdrug, Boots or any supermarkets. You can purchase one from Superdrug called 'Tresemme Thermal Creations Straightening Balm' 150ml for £5.39 which is a great price, but of course you can get any thermal protecting product you wish.
So overall, if you're looking for an easy, time-saving time straightening or styling your hair, this is definitely the one. However, it is a bit too expensive, but it's worth the investment in my opinion if you're consistently straightening your hair. You can get them in a variety of colours - purple, pink, or you can just opt for plain black like me. Can I just worn you, if you have young children in your house, make sure this stays right away from them, as it's dangerous. Trust me, I've been burnt by this, and it was very painful! The prices range from about £92-100 for just the straighteners on its own. I hope you make the right decision.
Summary: It's a great straightener worth buying!
