Advantages: very straigt hair
Disadvantages: price
If you are not already familiar with the GHD range, they were being used in hair salons all over the country before they went on sale to the public. People were amazed at how straight they got their hair and how long it actually managed to stay straight.
I was given my set of the regular size for Christmas 3 years ago now, and they are still going strong and working well. I believe they market at around £100-£130 depending on the size/colour and accessories bought with them etc.
Mine are plain black with orange writing on the size (where they open and close) saying 'GHD', they were actually bought from a salon but via the internet and cost £125 I believe. They came with a matt to rest them on and some heat defence spray. The plates are ceramic and are a golden colour.
One plugged in, they take around 10 seconds to heat up and the red light on the inside of the straightners start to flash once they are hot enough (roughly 230 degrees i believe), the newer models now beep when they are ready as well! I found that they went through my hair very smoothly and straightened very well on the first go, rather than going over the same piece of hair two or three times. It certainly cut out a lot of time trying to do my hair.
They are also pretty good for curling, if you know how to do this, I personally always screw it up so get someone else too but the girls stay in well also.
One straightened, I found my hair to stay the same for the duration of the day and sometimes the next day also, maybe with a touch up on the second day to make it neat but that's all. However, once it rained, my hair started to go curly again, but that's nothing that GHD have done wrong as they cant prevent that unfortunately.
Mine have been going strong for 3 years now and will always buy GHD in the future should they break. They are very much worth the price that they are.
Apart from salons, I am not really too sure where else you can buy these from, though I do suggest to not get them off ebay as a lot of fakes are around and it's hard to prove through just a photo, so buy from a reputable place! The internet is the best place though probably.
Summary: For poker straight locks
