Advantages: works superbly

Disadvantages: pricey

I have had my GHD's for about three years now, the same pair. Still working, despite me tripping on the cable a few times and slightly exposing the wiring underneath!

For anyone who is considering straightening their hair, I will say that GHD straighteners are simply the best that you can buy. Walk into Boots or Tesco and you will be greeted by a host of different names, Mark Hill through to Hannah Montana. Though quite why anyone would pay £15 for Hannah Montana straightners I will never know!

Aren't GHDs Expensive Though?

Yes. You will be looking to pay around £100 for a new pair. That is steep for an initial outlay and you might be tempted to buy a pair for half the price. But look at at this way. How often do you style your hair? Perhaps every day, maybe every other day, possibly a couple of times a week? Worth that out over a year and the cost soon irons out (excuse pun.)

Why GHDs?

Quite simply, they deliver unbeatable results for hair straightening. Plug them into the mains and they heat up to over 200 degrees in literally seconds. In the few seconds you spend waiting you can hang your wet towel up or put a belt on! I clip my hair section by section then take a lock of hair and pull the straighteners through with one smooth movement. Depending on which way you pull the hair, you can tame the hair to make it lie flat or make it look wild and spikey. You will be left with sleek glossy hair whatever you choose.

Cleaning GHDs?

You don't need to clean them really. Never product hair before using them though, as you will leave residue on the irons. You can store the GHDs in the case or just leave them on the floor, or maybe hang them up on a hook.

Professional?

I go to five star hair salons and they swear by GHDs. Some cheaper models have lower heat power and the irons do not seal in as much moisture as the GHDs.

Bad Points:

Price aside, leaving them on the hair too long will damage it, so always use a heat protector spray.

Overall:

Highly recommended, worth paying that bit extra for if you're serious about professional results.

Summary: brilliant haircare
