Advantages: Fantastic results without fail.
Disadvantages: Might be too hot for finer hair?
GHDs are easily the Daddy of all hair straighteners. So it's no surprise that with this, comes a hefty price tag. Which is why it takes some people quite a long time to cave and buy their first pair. For me it was 4 years to the day of buying my first hair straighteners that I bought my first GHDs -I kid you not! And almost a year later, they've yet to let me down.
::GHD::
GHD (stand for Good Hair Day) is a British company founded in 2001. They have since gained an cult following for their iconic straighteners. Regularly releasing 'special edition' stylers they keep the look up to date with trends, they are the ultimate stylers and I don't care what other people say. No other straighteners can even hold a candle to the GHD!
::The GHDs::
One great thing about the GHDs is that they heat up in seconds (and alert you with a little bleep when they're done!) so it's perfect for quick hair touch ups before you go out.
With ceramic heaters and aluminium plates, GHDs will make your hair extremely smooth and styled, but most importantly they help to leave your hair static free.
One down side of the GHDs is that they have a set heating temp (between 180 - 200 deg, I'm not 100% sure!) so you can't skip the heat protector with these. Plus, for those with fairer hair (like my sister) who normally use straighteners on a lower heat setting the GHDs might be a tad too harsh, or hot, for your hair?
::The Love!::
GHDs are easily the best hair straighteners I've used, and trust me I'd had plenty of pairs! My hair is pretty thick and coarse, but with GHDs my hair is left feeling super soft and looking perfectly sleek - plus my typical frizz is tackled with minimal effort on my part.
Of course, GHDs aren't just for straight hair. With a rounded 'barrel' around the plates you can easily create perfect waves or sleek curls in seconds.
::Pricing::
Yep, for upwards of £100 it might seem pretty steep for a beauty product. But I promise that you will not be left pouting with them, they effortlessly make your hair look completely amazing. And with the years of use people get out of them, it's less then pennies per use!
::Be Aware!::
I know, scary title there! With GHDs, of course, there are many fakes. So if you're buying online you need to be careful and make sure you're getting them from a registered GHD site. This is easy to do as GHD have a little 'search engine' type thing on their site where you just pop the website address and they'll tell you if they're approved by GHD or not.
Summary: Amazing hair everyday? Yes please!
