Advantages: Poker straight, smooth hair, Easy to use, Lasting results

Disadvantages: Very hot, Quite expensive although definatly worth it

A little background: My hair is thick, curly and frizzy, the only time i wear my hair curly is the 2 weeks a year when i am abroad. For the rest of the year, i battled day in and day out to prevent myself from looking like a poodle - i would buy shampoos and conditioners to reduce frizz, i'd buy blow dry creams to prevent frizz, i'd blow dry my hair with a barrell brush whilst roasting alive under my hair dryer, again to reduce frizz and after all that was over, i'd straighten my hair with my babyliss straight and shine straighteners for another half an hour and then chuck on a load of serum. Even after all that, my hair would only be semi-straight and still thick and quite frizzy. And despite my effort, one drop of rain or sense of humidity and my hair would revert back to the frizzy mess from the beginning of the process! :(

As a result of all this, you can imagine how much of a nightmare it was to get ready for a night out and as for everyday wear, i just couldn't be bothered!!

Then, one daym i was reading another site a few people had left messages raving about 'GHDs', i didn't have a clue what they were on about until i read that they were a new type of straightner that the hairdressing world were going crazy over. I did a search on the internet and found loads of reviews which agreed that these things were brilliant. After seeing that they were £90 pretty much everywhere, i decided i couldnt afford them and forgot about them.

A few months later a girl in work said that as her friend was a hairdresser she could get them from the wholesalers a bit cheaper so i finally gave in and ordered some. After a bit of a mess up on behalf of Royal Mail, i received my straightners a few days later...

I wanted to try them about properly so i used them on my sister who has similar hair to me and the results were fab!! Even my mum, who thought i was mad for paying so much for a set of hair straighteners, had to
admit that the results were great!! They were so light, glided gown her hair and not only left it poker straight, but really smooth and glossy!
Then it was my turn, i was still convinced they wouldnt do a thing for me or that the results wouldnt last! What can i say? I was WRONG, they were fab and it was like having someone elses hair! The same day, i got caught in a rain shower, got home, only to find i had one or two kinks, rather than a whole head of curls - i was impressed!

Needless to say, i dont have to worry about spending hours on my hair anymore - i wash it using any shampoo i want, rough dry it with the hair dryer or just let it dry naturally and then run the straighteners over it - no serum, no blow dry cream. I figure that the money i would have spent on shampoos and conditioners and other haircare stuff over the last 4 months would have been alot more than i paid for the straighteners, which makes them even better!! :)

I'd say that if you can, just get them, you wont be dissapointed - my friend bought a set of hairtools ceramic straighteners thinking they'd be the same, i used them and found them completly different (and not as good) as the real thing (GHD).

Happy straightening! :)
