Advantages: Brilliant results even on terrible hair like mine!, heat up very quickly

Disadvantages: expensive (but SO worth it!)

Firstly let me stress...i am NOT the kind of girl who splashes out £90 on any old thing! i'm more the kind of girl who resents spending her hard earned dosh on anything thats not completely essentail - and lets face it, hair straighteners arent esential....or so i thought! Read on my pretties, read on.....

For 24 years I resigned myself to the fact that I was stuck with my curly hair - after spending many hours blowing drying, straightening and dousing it in every lotion and potion imaginable I had come to the conclusion that nothing could tame my wild locks - Its thick, its curly and I hate it

But then....
After a good week at work I decided to treat myself to a haircut at the new hairdressers down the road from me (shamefully, due to my tight-fistedness, I used to get my mum to cut my hair - thats the one good thing about curly hair - you can do terrible things to it and it doesnt show!). So along I went and on sitting down explained the fact that I hated my bouffant barnet and could she try and make it less "big".

After much layering, chopping and blow drying (really thick hair takes a loooong time to blow dry) she asked if I'd like to see it straight. Now, I was sceptical...people have tried to straighten my hair before and failed miserably....and on looking in the miror at the blow-dried birds nest on my head I laughed and said she was welcome to try. So she rumaged around in a cupboard and pulled out a GHD straightener (for artistic purposes lets imagine there was a halo of light surrounding them)...within a few seconds the pile of curly and tangled hair was being transformed...into poker straight tresses!

I was completely and utterly stunned!

Almost fell of my chair in shock....

I have NEVER in my ENTIRE life had hair that even slightly resembles straight...and suddenly it was completely utterly 100% straight...and shiny....and wonderful!

I laughed uncontrollably for abou 5
minutes then on regaining my composure went home to play with my new hair!

My family were amazed, my boyfriend was stunned and my boyfriends brother didnt even recognise me!

Anyway, to cut a long story (involving much standing in front of mirrors and "you sound like you, but you dont look like you!" conversations) against all my skin-flint characteristics, I splashed out the £95 (included heat protecting spray and next day postage) on the straighteners. I can now see the proper colour of my hair - you cant when its curly. It shines like its never shined before (something clever to do with these particular straighteners). And I can do all the cool things to it which straight haired girls take for granted...so many hairstyles dont work with curly hair! AND - its easy - my uber-thick hair takes 10 minutes tops to get perfectly straight. Admitedly at first its a bit scary as these babies are hot - but you soon get the knack of it....and then you wont be able to live without them. Oh - and it lasts....my hair stays straight until I was it again, even after going out, playing with it (you'll do this a lot), sleeping on it....if you just run a brush through it (yes - a brush will actually go through straight hair!!) it looks as fab as when you just did it.

In conclusion - these sound expensive, very expensive, but they are WELL worth the money. I can honestly say they've changed me - I feel more confident and i love my hair! Hooray!
