My hair is super curly and I have spent years and so much money on products and styling appliances trying to straighten it, with no success. I heard about GHD straightening irons in February, and although they were expensive ? around £90, I decided to fork out for them. The first time I used them I was amazed. They transformed my corkscrew curls into sleek straight shiny hair instantly. It took only about 20 minutes to change my whole head from super curly to sleek and straight. They really are something else, and in a different league to other straightening irons. 100% recommendation.

GHD straighteners are incredibly easy to use. You just plug them in, wait for 6 seconds for them to heat up, and voila. Ready to use. They work the best when you divide your hair into sections and straighten each section, starting with the under hair. Straight hair in no time!

A word of warning. The downside is that, because they are so effective, I got tempted to use them more and more often. It has now got to a stage where I use them on my hair everyday. I?ve now been straightening it for 7 months, and although they are supposed to ?seal in moisture?, they have definitely damaged the condition of my hair, especially drying out the ends. No wonder, as they heat to such high temperatures. I have had to cut it shorter to try and keep it in good condition, which is a downside as I like long to wear my hair long.

To try and combat this problem, I spray it with a heat protector spray prior to straightening. I would recommend Charles Worthington Results ? Electrical Styling Spray, to keep hair in good condition.

Overall, I couldn?t live without GHD straighteners, and definitely recommend them.
