Advantages: Very easy to use to straighten and curl.
Disadvantages: Very expensive for what you get.
*****Introduction*****
My GHD hair straighteners blew up just before Christmas after four years, I was not that bothered as four years was a long time for them to last considering I used them a couple of times a week.
As Christmas was looming I knew that it would not effect me to much as I could ask for a new set as a gift, my boy friend stepped up and got me these white GHD straighteners.
*****The Straighteners*****
These GHD straighteners are advertised as Pure straighteners, so this in itself makes them different from the usual black ones as they are pure white in colour.
These are also different from my usual black MK3 black straighteners as they have a rounder barrel but the ceramic plates remain as flat as the older versions, some my be thinking why is the barrel round, well as curls have become very popular over the past few months GHD have tapped into this so you can now curl your hair with the straighteners hence the rounder barrel.
Curling is very easy to do and takes to time at all unlike using a curling iron, when you curl your hair with the GHD'S they last hours and don't drop at any sign of humidity.
The other feature that has appealed to me is the sleep mode, if you accidentally leave your straighteners on they will automatically shut down after thirty minutes, so this works well as I am always forgetting to turn them off.
The extra long cord on these is roughly two and a half meters long so you can plug them in and straighten your hair anywhere.
The universal plug allows you to take your irons on holiday and they will work in any country but in my experience that are not as hot in other countries as they are running on a lower voltage and not the 240V they are designed for.
Other that the features mentioned these are exactly the same as my old ones, with the exception of them being white which I have found to be a bit of a pain as they get really dirty quickly, at least the black ones hid the dirt. I personally liked the straighteners better when they were on the mucky side as the plates glide through the hair without leaving horrible track lines that are really difficult to get rid of.
*****My Views******
For the price of 134.99 I got the straghteners, a protective carry pouch and a styling dvd, these were all elegantly displayed in a white box covered in little black velvet flowers so the presentation side of things was great.
I feel that the 134.99 for the limited editions was a little bit expensive as the black ones only cost 109.00 for the exact same straighteners, I feel that I would have been happier with the black ones but at the same time I am happy with the white ones.
As for GHD having a really good name and over priced straighteners and products, I feel that the consumers are getting ripped off as you can buy just as good a straightener from boots for a fraction of the price, I feel that GHD do so well as they have the must have name that everyone want a piece of.
Summary: I do love the effects you get when using these but i feel cheaper versions can be bought.
