Advantages: New shape, stylish colour, makes hair poker straight

Disadvantages: pretty expensive

I bought a set of these a few weeks ago as my old black mk 3 GHDs had finally given up and died after 4 years of loyal service!

I spent a long time deciding whether to buy these limited edition ones or the traditional black mk 4's, I wasn't sure the difference in price was entirely justified. However, in the end i found a website selling these for £119 including free postage so i decided to go for it!

The MK 4s have a new rounded shape so that you can curl your hair as well as straighten it. They also beep when they reach optimum temperature. Best of all if they haven't been pressed together after 30 mins they turn themselves off, so no more worrying that you have left the straighteners on and burnt the house down!

It may sound silly, but one of the main selling points for me was the heat proof travel case. It's nice to have something the right size and shape to carry them around in, and you can pop them in there while they're still warm.

Despite being at the high end of the price range i would always recommend GHDs over other straighteners, and i've tried a fair few! I have thick curly hair and they glide through it making it soft, sleek and poker straight. Best of all it stays straight for the whole day, even in hot sweaty nightclubs.

Summary: Expensive product but beats the competition hands down!
