Advantages: They work really well

Disadvantages: Price?

First up, I should point out that I actually own the GHD Dark straighteners, but they don't seem to be listed on Dooyoo, and they're pretty much exactly the same as the Pure ones anyway, bar the colours!

I bought them six months ago after my trusty Babyliss straighteners died. I'd never owned a pair of GHDs before, but they have a good reputation so I thought I'd go for it. I was torn between the 'normal' GHDs and the special edition ones, but I travel a lot so really wanted a case for them (as another reviewer pointed out, it's annoying when you're away and you have to wait for them to cool down before putting them in the case!) I chose the 'Dark' straighteners rather than the 'Pure' ones as I have Victorian Gothic tendencies (and I thought white might get dirty anyway!).

I was very impressed with the appearance of the straighteners: they are a lovely rich black shiny colour, and the case is smart and black with an embossed design. They work incredibly well too. I have very awkward hair: it is very thick and can go frizzy (I dye it as well which doesn't help), and I absolutely hated it until I got my first pair of straighteners aged 17. These ones make my hair really straight, shiny and smooth, much more quickly and easily than any straighteners I've ever had in the past. They glide through my hair really easily and it takes much less time to do my hair in the morning than it ever did.

I've had them for six months and I will certainly be buying GHDs again when these die (which hopefully won't be for a long time yet!) They cost £119, which is much more than I had ever paid for straighteners, but in my opinion it was worth it.

Summary: Special edition GHDs
