Advantages: Does the trick if it's used on damp hair.
Disadvantages: Made my hair look limp and lifeless if used on dry hair.
I bought this almost a year a go when I got my GHDs. On the face of it, this product ticks all the boxes - Contains UVB protection, aimed at dry frizzy hair ect and promises 'maximum shine' Like I've said before I have frizz-tastic hair so anything that promises shine and targets frizz is easily sold to me!
::The Packaging::
The packaging of the serum is the same as all the other GHD thermodynamics range and comes in a little Triangle shaped bottle with a pull off lid. The colour of the bottle is black, which gives it a very salon style look and the bottle has a little pump under the lid for getting the product out.
::The Serum::
GHD say this serum will tame unruly frizzy hair, smooths hair cuticles sealing split ends for maximum shine. So using this should help even the most difficult hair.
The serum is pefectly clear and pretty runny - to me it's unscented but my nose is a little dickie and doesn't pick up on scents sometimes so I might be wrong here?
Like most serums after using you HAVE to wash your hands, this stuff can be seriously greasy and if you don't other things will be very slippery to pick up, and you'll no doubt leave traces of the product everywhere. So best to keep a pack of baby wipes nearby when you're using it.
There are two ways to use this serum - either apply to damp hair before blow drying or use on your hair to give it extra shine after heat styling, sounds pretty helpful huh?
::Over All::
I'm pretty 50/50 on this product. If I use it before drying my hair I find it does the trick - it smooths my hair cuticles like promised and smooths over any split ends making it shiney like a polished tea spoon. (or, in otherwords pretty shiney!) But if I use it after heat styling (blow drying) I find it makes my hair feel heavy with product and makes it loose a lot of volume - not so good!
Also, I find using GHDs with their Heat Protection Spray gives even my nest of hair a perfect shine and glossy finish - which makes me wonder if there's any real need for this product?
::Pricing::
The serum is on the GHD website for £12.70 - If I'm completely honest I find this price completely over the top and would never pay this much for it. But I have seen it in sales on discount for about £8.95 which is a tad more reasonable.
Summary: A hit and miss product - not worth the price tag!
