“ Brand: GHD Style / Type: Hair Spray / What it does: Protects, „
I've had my ghd hair straighteners for probably about 9 or 10 years now, and they're still going strong. They were hands down absolutely the best £100 that I've ever spent. I do always use a heat protection spray on my hair before using my ghd's, and I do think that using this makes a big difference to the look and the condition of my hair after straightening or curling it.
I do normally buy a ghd branded heat protection spray, but I've also picked up cheaper versions in Boots if I've been a bit short of cash. I've previously used the ghd Iron Oil, the ghd Thermal Protection Spray, and the one that I'm currently using is just called ghd Heat Protect Spray. This normally retails for £9.95, however a few months ago my hairdresser's had them on offer for just £4.99, so I picked a couple of bottles up. The bottles are 120ml in size.
The ghd Heat Protect Spray provides a barrier and protects your hair against heat damage during styling, from your straighteners, curling tongs, hairdryer etc. You can use this on damp or dry hair, I always use this just on dry hair as I don't own a hairdryer! I always let my hair dry naturally and then straighten it or curl it if necessary. You can layer this with other styling products as you see fit, I use this with mousse occasionally for lasting curls. If you are layering this with other products then you should apply the heat protect spray first.
This is really easy to use; I've got slightly longer than shoulder length hair, and I use about 8 sprays, I just spritz this all over my hair from the roots to the ends, and then I comb it through to ensure that it is all evenly distributed throughout my hair, and than I straighten or curl my hair depending on my mood. This has quite a pleasant 'hairdressers' kind of fragrance, and it does seem to linger whilst I style my hair, I can also catch a waft of this sometimes throughout the day or the evening as well.
I can absolutely tell the difference between styling my hair without using this, and with using this. Very occasionally I've straightened my hair without using a heat protection spray, and it's not a pleasant experience, it leaves my hair dry and frazzled, and any split ends show up really badly. Whereas if I use a heat protection spray then my hair is left shiny and glossy, and any split ends are tamed.
I really like this ghd Heat Protect Spray as it's a really lightweight spray and doesn't weigh my hair down. I've used cheaper sprays that can make my hair feel and look greasy, not so with this. This leaves my hair feeling very natural and healthy, and it doesn't feel like it's full of products. I like the fragrance as it just seems to blend in with any other hair products that I've used, and not overpower them. One bottle of this lasts me ages, normally about 9 months as I don't use straighteners or curling tongs every day.
I'm definitely going to pick up another couple of bottles if I see them on offer in the hairdressers again, as I ended up giving one of my bottles to my sister. She used it whilst we were away together and absolutely loved it as well, even her husband asked her what she'd used as it made such a difference to the look and feel of her hair after styling.
