Advantages: Protects my hair, easy to use, good price

Disadvantages: None

Using my GHD Straighteners everyday on my hair really does worry me about the damage I am causing to my hair, the last thing I would ever want is to end up with no hair because it had all fallen out. So it was suggested that I whenever I used my GHD's that I used a protector on my hair to protect it from any harmful damage that I may cause.

My stylist managed to convince me to try 'GHD thermal protector for normal-dry hair' and for me its main selling point was that not only should it protect my hair and enhance the shine of your hair as it was straightened but it states "The ghd Thermal Protector, with new Heat Reflection Technology, is a divine weapon against heat damage. It gives you maximum protection against heat appliances, up to 200°C to ensure that your beautiful strong hair always triumphs over heat damage". So I felt this was perfect for me because I have quite thin hair and I never need to have my straighteners on the highest settings to get the poker straightness.

This product comes in a 150ml gold coloured bottle with the words GHD written in red clearly displayed and it looks very similar to a bottle of shampoo in size but this product is a spray. With any product from GHD you have to expect to pay a higher price than your high street serums and frizz balms and this product retails at many different prices depending on where you buy it and you can expect to pay anything from £8.45 to £12.99 which is quite a difference. I purchased my bottle online from the GHD website and paid £9.95 which I didn't think was too expensive.

To use this thermal protector you firstly need to ensure that your hair is clean and slightly damp so an ideal time to use it is after you have just washed your hair and have allowed it to dry naturally for a while. Then once you think your hair is ready to use it you simply spray the product directly onto your hair before you dry it using your hairdryer. Whenever I use a product of this nature, I never spritz the whole of my hair in one go because past experiences have taught me that you never get an all over even coverage, it is much easier to divide your hair into sections, as you would do to straighten it and then spray each section in turn therefore ensuring equal coverage of the spray is given, then once I have done this I comb my hair right through to allow the product to work into my hair.

Once your hair is dry you simply divide your hair into sections and straighten using your hair straighteners. This product also claims that it will "Control unruly hair and add sustained moisture when heat-styling" I have to say that since I begun using it a month ago there has been a notable difference in not only how straight my hair becomes without little wisps of hair sticking up all over the place due to static but it is much sleeker and it stays straighter for a much longer period of time, so I don't feel that I have to come home from work and re-straighten it if I am going out in the evening, instead I can just apply my hold spray (which is another product) and continue with my plans as usual. This product like many others contain extra ingredients to work on your hair to give it a better overall look and this one itself contains meadow seed oil which is used in a lot of hair care products and its primary function is to maintain the moisture content and help increase the elasticity and this is brought about by the heat of your hair straighteners.

As I mentioned previously in this review, this product says that it will enhance your hairs shine and the shine that now coats my hair after using this is absolutely stunning and much better than it has ever been before, it looks totally natural and really healthy and soft to touch, almost as good as the feeling you get after leaving your hair salon.

On the whole I am really impressed with my GHD Thermal Protector because it does protect my hair, enhance the shine and help keep my hair straight after using my GHD's once a day. The overall feel of my hair is that it is a lot stronger, healthier and moisturised and this is one product that I intend to keep buying.
