Advantages: Everything, this is simply wonderful!
Disadvantages: None I know of unless you don't like a toffee smell!
When it comes to caring for my hair a few people will be shocked to hear that I'm a bit obsessive about it (not like I spend loads on products now is it???) Haha.
Seriously though for anyone who doesn't know me I am quite smitten with hair products. Not only do I like the fact that I can achieve gorgeous silky, shiny, smooth locks but I also love the feel of good hair and the smell of it. Since quitting smoking I've really enjoyed using nice fragranced hair products which is why I bought this nice sounding smelling toffee deep conditioning mud treatment. Well I bought it for the fragrance in the main and quickly followed by it costing me 20p a sachet in Superdrug when normally it's about £1.29 a go. A bargain it was and I actually bought a good few for 'special occasion use' then they went into my special 'pamper bag' lol Yes I'm a creature of habit!
The Sachet Itself....
White plastic on the outside and silver foil on the inside, it's oblong in shape and I assume it is recyclable though it doesn't state anything of the kind symbol wise on the packaging which is a tad unusual nowadays. On the front in black and white writing I'm told it is Gum Hair, Toffee, Deep Conditioning Treatment Mud which is 'wickedly self indulgent' and then I'm told Gums website details which are (www.gumhair.com). On the back I'm told a bit about the product and what the treatment is for, directions for use, ingredients are listed, contact details for Gum Hair Co Ltd are given, I'm clearly told the product is made in the Uk, size is stated (25ml) and finally there is a black bar code on there. All in all it's a simple sachet. The idea with it being it's simple to rip open, use and discard whilst letting you know clearly on the labeling side of things what it is of course. It does all that. Simple enough to look at and functional it's fine just not mind blowing to look at but lets face it it doesn't and shouldn't need to be lol
About The Product According To The Packaging....
3 Steps to fab hair.
Step One: Find a good hairdresser.
Step Two: Get a great haircut
Step Three: Get Gummed up
Take time out for the most wickedly self-indulgent deep treatment. Nourishes & re-moisturises all hair types.
Directions For Use....
Shampoo, rinse and towel dry. Apply sufficient toffee, massage and distribute thru' the lengths, relax, leave on the head for 5-15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
My Experience...
Firstly as I revealed earlier I bought a few of these sachets and I just want to let you know I've used this on my head for 5 minutes and over 15 and it makes no difference so don't walk past it thinking I don't have time to achieve maximum results or/and I don't want to sit around with this on my head. I do think it needs at least 5 minutes on the hair but after that amount of time I've felt no further benefits so it's optional time wise as to how long you want to give it.
So I use it as directed. Me, I wash my hair with a decent shampoo a couple of times and then I dry my hair off quite alot with a towel and then I brush/comb through my hair which isn't easy for me after not using any conditioner I can tell you! Once combed though I tear open the packet which is easy enough to do (no biting my way through the sachet is required!). I then squeeze out all of the treatment into my hands which again isn't rocket science to do.
The amount you get is quite shocking I think! I have just below shoulder length hair and I get a massive handful which is more than enough for me! The treatment feels on the hands like a decent conditioner feels. It's a light toffee brown colour and the smell is simply delightful and rich. It simply smells of a nice strong distinctive toffee in but it is sweet and me.... I always think I can smell some coconut to it but it really is lovely and not horrible or too thick smelling but i do think best suited for women and children in it's smell.
To Use it I spread it through my hands lightly and it is a really good consistency. It isn't a thick and/or gloopy cream but at same time it doesn't trickle out your hands or anything like that.
Applying it through the hair is as easy as pie and the whole experience of using it is actually rather lovely. It goes on the hair a dream and as I said there's plenty of product to make sure it's on everywhere and I find it none drip and none messy to use. Once on the hair it stays there and it's got a little bit of an oily based feeling to it but that makes it really easy to distribute it. You can see it slightly on some of the hair as the treatment shows up a bit of a whitish coloured liquid.
All you then do is forget about it and inhale the aromas while you leave it to weave its magic for as long as you can give it. As I said I leave it on for as long as I can either tied back in a pigtail while I read a magazine and donning a face mask at the same time (yes multi tasking!) or I wrap my hair in a warm towel I've pre prepared on a warm radiator earlier. As I said earlier though the results are all the same so it's down to you how you want to play it.
It washes out very easily and you can feel the gentle conditioner water coming away smoothly from the hair. The smell never leaves and the bathroom smells gorgeous and it takes a matter of a couple of minutes to get rid of the treatment from hair.
Results....
Super soft hair! Once I've dried my hair I comb/brush it through and there are no knots and hair feels like damp silk. Styling is the same as ever and what I am left with is hair that feels incredibly healthy from inside out, root to tip. Hair simply feels and looks strong. That feeling is built upon with satin soft shine that is visible to yours and everyone else's eyes. Touch the hair it is smooth, no frizzies, no dry bits threatening to upset your do and this is perfect for combination hair types such as mine because I have greasy roots that spit out grease at the first sign of trouble but this really is so gentle and kind it doesn't upset my hair in any way shape or form.
If you want maximum smell from this product on the hair then just don't over fragrance your hair with other products. Me, though I do use other products over this to style my hair and I can always still smell the toffee aroma and I used this yesterday afternoon it's now the day after and gone 7pm and my hair smells just as fresh as when I used it!
To use this and style your hair is a great idea. It politely asks your hair to behave self and it allows hair to be soft, shiny and natural without any force. It's a great start to clean, soft, bouncy and supple hair and the hair feels wonderful to the touch and you just want to say to people oi stroke me, it's that impressive!
I recommend this highly as a treat and a wonderful treatment. It's a product to use before going somewhere a bit special as for me it gives a confidence boost and smells so gorgeous hair gets comments! Lovely!
Summary: An excellent treat!
