Advantages: Cheap, Easy to Use, Perfect hair!

Disadvantages: Can have problems with the plates

I bought my pair of Hairtools Thermo Ceramic straighteners after deliberating over a pair of GHDs, and deciding a could not justify spending close to £100...the reviews on here helped, and now having owned my Hairtools for about 4 months, I thought I would add my own thoughts.

These straighteners are absolutely amazing. With pale coloured ceramic plates measuring 2.5cm by 9cm, I was abit surprised when I opened them up and found them to be so small. But although they may be tiny, they are totally mighty! I have incredibly thick frizzy unmanageable hair, and have been through the Babyliss "straight and shine with a shot of steam", followed by Remington's Super Smooth Professional finish, the latter of which was a vast improvement on the former. However, in order to get my hair poker straight, I still had to spend about 45-60 minutes straightening it section by section. I ordered the hairtools thermo's from www.ukhairdressers.com and they were delivered to me the following day with a free bottle of protective spray. This was the cheapest place that I could find them, and at the moment, they are selling for £45 from there, with free next day delivery and the same bottle of protective spray (also very good!). I used them immediately, and was impressed that they heated up before I had even put a brush to my hair (literally within seconds) and I was amazed that in no more than 15 minutes I was done, and my hair looked better than it ever had done after straightening. After 4 months of using them on a regular basis (minimum of once a week, maximum of 7!!), my hair show no sign of heat damage at all. In fact, people keep remarking on how healthy it looks. It is shiny and glossy and oh so touchable and smooth! The old straighteners used to leave it looked abit frazzled at the ends and harsh, but these are truly amazing, and I am positive my hair's condition has improved. Once I have straightened once, the effect lasts until I wash my hair agai
n, and I jsut need to touch up for about 5 mins or less each morning (but I do sleep like a mentalist!).

The straighteners are very easy to use because they are so slim and light, you can get right into the roots when straightening, and it is as easy to use them to create flicks and curls as well, due to the slimline nature. They have 4 heat settings, the max of which is 190C. This is for afro caribbean or very thick hair. This is what I have been using because my hair is incredibly thick, but I have heard from other people who have less thick hair that using the less heat settings is as effective for their hair. The straighteners come with comprehensive instructions on the heat settings anyway, so working out what is best for you is easy. These straighteners also boast infra red heat and anti-static, which according to the blurb "By penetrating the hair and heating from the inside-out the plates lock in moisture and natural oils creating a sleek, polished effect with added shine". Which they certainly do. They also have an on/off switch on the handle, alongside a red LED so you know when they are on/off and you can switch them off without doing so at the plug. The cable is long aswell, so you can walk all over your room while using them!

As for disadvantages, there has only been one rather major one. The plates of the original pair I had began to wear off, revealing a brushed metal underneath. According to my hairdresser this has also happened to alot of GHD's. I sent them back from whence they came, and within a week had a brand new pair, that so far (about 2 months) have been absolutely perfect. There are no other disadvantages that I have found.

In clonclusion, these are highly recommended by me, there is no point shelling out £100 for a pair of GHD's when you can buy these for half that and get the same effect (my hairdresser uses GHD's and believe me, you CAN get the same effect with hairtools as you can
from the GHD's). If you are considering, stop deliberating - go buy! Now!
