Advantages: Cheap, long lasting, good for hair

Disadvantages: None apparent

HBM Colour Care Shampoo comes in a 1 litre bottle, and to my knowledge is only available in Tesco. It claims to be 'Specially developed by professionals. Formulated with a blend of vitamins and UV filters, to cleanse and enhance whilst caring for your colour. Leaves your hair shiny and radiant'. It is in extremely similar packaging to Tresemme, which is what drew my attention to it when I bought it on my last toiletries shopping trip (about 6 weeks ago).

It costs £3.99 per bottle, however, it is on long term special offer (currently until 31/12/09 and likely to be extended) and is just £3.99 for 2 bottles - you can mix and match shampoo and conditioner, so you get both for £1.99 each. Even on the current offer of £1.99 until 10/11/09 at Tesco on Tresemme for a 900ml bottle, you will still get more for your money by purchasing HBM. Normally Tresemme comes in at £3.99 per bottle, and whilst there are generally offers on it, HBM is a bigger bottle.

The product is in a plastic bottle which is widely recyclable, although you cannot recycle the lid, it is vitamin enriched and has an enhanced UV filter, so whilst it is perfect for days in the sun, it is perfect to protect your hair against the everyday UV damage from even the winter sun which you do not notice and do not attempt to protect against.

To use you simply pour a small amount on to your hand (a little goes a long way), as you will see from my picture I have shoulder length hair and I use a blob about the size of a 50p, rub it between your palms and then distribute through your hair evenly, working it up in to a lather. You need to focus particularly on your roots, as this is where the oil is produced. Then, once you have a satisfactory lather, simply rinse off thoroughly.

I have been using the product for 6 weeks now, about 4 times a week, and my hair is in really good condition. I have highlights and these do tend to get very dry, but using this shampoo has meant that they have been kept in really soft good condition.

Overall a great alternative to Tresemme, when you're on a budget!

Summary: A great value shampoo, beats Tresemme hands down!
