      Advantages

      • "Improves dandruff"
      • "Gentle on hair"

      Disadvantages

Great shampoo for those with dandruff - nice scent, cares for your hair

Head and Shoulders products are brilliant for anyone with mild to moderate dandruff or dry scalp. The reason I prefer these products over other brands is that they do not feel like a "medicated" shampoo - they don''t smell bad and they''re not harsh on your hair

This particular shampoo is designed for coloured hair, and I have used it on coloured hair in the past and had no problems. However I have also used it when my hair has not been coloured and it still does a good job - it leaves my hair feeling pretty soft and moisturised (although if this is what you want Head and Shoulders does make a hydrating shampoo and conditioner).

In terms of its effect on dandruff, it is pretty good as long as you use it regularly. I find that I need to wash my hair with Head and Shoulders at least twice a week otherwise the dandruff starts to come back. This does prove that it is doing some good though!

These products can be quite expensive compared to other everyday shampoos, but it is possible to get a reasonable deal if you choose the large bottles, and get them when they are on offer. I have found them either half price or buy one get one free (which usually applies across the whole head and shoulders range) at most chain pharmacies and supermarkets at one time or another, so keep your eyes open and stock up when you can.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

A great basic shampoo for all types of hair

I do much prefer to use a really good quality, and therefore really expensive, range of hair products as my hair is coloured, thick, long & difficult to manage and I have found that premium products such as Joico really do make a world of difference to it. However, when times are hard my luxuries are one of the first things to go and so I decided I was going to have to resort to using a bog standard shampoo!

After trying a couple & hating them I decided to try this product because some of the others had left my scalp slightly dry & flaky - a problem I had never had before. I bought just the shampoo and not the conditioner, as I like to use a more intensive conditioner, and for a 250ml bottle it cost me just over £2. There are bigger, and therefore possibly better value, bottles available but I wanted to try the smaller bottle first in case I didn't like it. This brand is available in most supermarkets, Boots, Superdrug etc and as with anything it is worth looking out for offers on it, which I have frequently seen.

As far a fairly basic hair products go I am pretty impressed with this one. Firstly it has a gorgeous fresh clean smell, secondly you don't need to use a huge amount and it lathers up really well - nice and rich feeling - and thirdly it pretty much instantly sorted out my dry scalp - which I guess it should do really as that is the whole point of the product! I have found it is fairly decent at retaining my colour and it certainly keeps my hair shiny without making it greasy. My hair felt lovely after using it, nice and silky soft but without being fluffy or flyaway, I also found it very manageable.

Having never used this product before, because I have never suiffered with dandruff previously, I now realise it is not just good for those with a problem scalp, in fact it is a lovely, gentle, non-irritating, fresh smelling product that is suitable for all hair types I would say. It doesn't do miracles for coloured hair but it is certainly better than many in this respect.

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

This will replace my everyday head and shoulders.

I hate to admit it but I get a dry scalp, and I hate the thought of people seeing I have dandruff so I invest in special shampoos to avoid this. Whenever you think of dandruff and shampoo there is only one name which comes to mind, and that is head and shoulders. I wouldn't even be able to think of a name of a single other shampoo which is able to combat dandruff.

When I went to the supermarket to buy it I saw a special colour care version. I have coloured hair which is quite fragile, so it seemed like a good idea to buy this and I was quite excited to see how it compared to the normal version, and whether it had the improvements necessary for me to bin all of my other shampoos!

Head and shoulders comes in a white plastic bottle with a flip on and off lid. It is easy to squeeze out how much you need and easy to get to empty the bottle and the last bit out as it has a flat lid which you can handily rest it on when the end is near! The shampoo is creamy and smells quite medical! I find it doesn't lather up as well as other shampoos I use, which just means I have to use a bit more. This shampoo is not extortionately expensive and is often on special offer so using too much doesn't matter a great deal.

The shampoo can be washed off almost as soon as it is washed in, but as this shampoo is directed at my scalp as well as my hair I always make sure I rub it in to both areas really well to make sure I get the best use out of it.

It is easy to wash out and doesn't make my hair feel all stuffy and hard if it gets stuck in there.

The real test was once my hair was dried. Would it feel in better condition that it does with normal, ordinary head and shoulders?! Well it did. It felt a bit softer and less crunchy at the ends which was definitely a bonus. With head and shoulders I tend to use it in rotation with my ordinary shampoo as it doesn't leave my hair in quite as good condition as my normal shampoo, and to get rid of my dandruff I only have to use it once every few weeks.

I don't think I will be replacing my everyday shampoo with this as it just doesn't quite give the same gloss and sheen, and the smell is not amazing. I will however be replacing head and shoulders, the normal brand with this. Colour care is the way forward for me!

      Advantages

      Disadvantages

Leaves hair soft, shiny and clean

I turned to Head and Shoulders colour care shampoo and conditioner after being really pleased with the results from their citrus version. I wanted to try the colour care range as Head and Shoulders shampoo's are known to strip the colour from your hair and being a hairdresser, I knew about this and wanted to protect my colour.

When most people think of Head and Shoulders, they still think of the almost medicated shampoo that was around in the 80's-90's and they only had the one version. Now, they have a much greater range for all different hair types and even 2 in 1 shampoo and conditioners.

I don't use this product because I have, or have ever suffered with dandruff, I use it because it leaves my hair soft and shiny. I think people often think of this brand for people with dandruff only, but I think it's just another bonus that it protects your head from dandruff.

I usually buy the 250ml which is around £2 at full price for either the shampoo or conditioner, or is often on offer for £1 each at supermarkets and pound shops. The bottles aren't particularly attractive in the sense of packaging, white bottles with blue lids and splashes of red on the labels.

The shampoo itself has a fresh floral scent when dispensed and lathers up really well on the hair. It really gets rid of any grease on the hair and makes it feel very clean. This shampoo does not leave any kind of greasy residue which other well known brands can do. Even after drying your hair it will stay fresh smelling and soft to the touch.

I think this shampoo is brilliant value for money as it keeps dandruff at bay and cleans hair very well and I would recommend for all to try, especially if you colour your hair.

I have recommended this to family and friends who now use Head and Shoulders regularly in place of more expensive shampoo's. Give it a go, you might just be converted!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        ,

I bought this Shampoo a couple of months ago when it was on offer for £1 for the 250ml bottle. I like to use Head and Shoulders Shampoo's and Conditioners as I have a bit of a flaky scalp and I wouldn't say my scalp is sensitive, but when I use more heavily perfumed Shampoo then i find it seems that bit more flaky, so it could be irritated that bit. Now the Head and Shoulders range is on offer in Asda for £2 for the 500ml bottle, which is another good deal. You can expect to pay around £2 normally for the 250ml bottle, and about £4 for the 500ml, but Asda is pretty good at having it on offer now again.

I use the Citrus one mostly as that is for Greasy hair, but I do have Highlighted hair, so I thought I would use this one to try and protect the Colour and thought it would be nice and moisturising as well.

I don't think too much of the design of the bottles. They don't look that fancy or interesting. They have a slight shape to them, and are mostly white with blue and other splashes of colour on them. The flip top lid part is easy to open even with wet hands.

This is a sort of cream texture and not a gel Shampoo. You only need a little bit of this and it lathers up just nice.

This has a light scent and although not flowery, it seems to have a light floral scetn but also a moisturising scent and clean smelling as well.

Once my hair was washed with this I found it to be soft, shiny and nice enough smelling. After finishing the bottle I can't say that it done anything different to my Hair in regards to the colour, but it seemed to keep it looking soft, shiny and bright.

A nice gentle Shampoo that is kind to your scalp as well.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

It is what I am buying week after week

Head and Shoulders seem to have had a face lift! I recently spotted what appeared to be a new range when I was doing my supermarket shopping.

Colour care was part of that range so I picked up a bottle of the shampoo ans conditioner and I was pleasantly surprised with the results.

Like most people who buy the product I have had problems with psoriasis and the product was gentle and caused no reaction from my sensitive scalp.

Unlike some anti dandruff shampoos this actually looks after your hair too, it left mine soft to touch with a bright and shiny appearance.

The shampoo will range in price dependant upon which store you buy it from, however this shampoo falls into a mid range price bracket and offers a top class result!

After two weeks of use I had a clear scalp free from any flakes, soft manageable hair and bright colour. Your hair is left looking healthy and smelling great.

The only downside I can find perhaps is that you need slightly larger blobs of the stuff to do the same job as other shampoos but I am really having to clutch at straws to come up with any negatives!

I have tried much more expensive shampoos specifically designed for my blonde hair and the results have not been so striking.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

although it is not perfect, it is close enough

I absolutely love Head and Shoulders and would not use an alternative brand. At a younger age I suffered with a lot of dandruff and even eczema on my scalp, so despite the 'cheesy' adverts which never convinced me that the shampoo would work, I decided to give the product a go. I was shocked and pleasantly surprised as right from the word go my scalp was noticeably different. Infact, my boyfriend has recently begun to use Head and Shoulders as he too had terrible dandruff, (flakes from his scalp on my pillows was not pleasant!) and the difference has been incredible. I can't find a single flake in his hair now. Anyways, the only drawback of the product was that for years there only seemed to be one type for 'normal hair' available. So, as I regularly dye my hair and get frustrated at the colour fading, I was pleased to discover Head and Shoulders Colour Care which not only keeps my hair dandruff free but also assists in maintaining my colour. Although this product isn't necessarily the most attractively packaged, it is cheap and works. I'm not sure that it's the best colour care shampoo or even the shampoo that leaves your hair in the best condition ever, yet for the price and its power against dandruff I cannot complain. Altbought not perfect, my hair is always left silky, shiny and flake free. A definite asset to your bathroom.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        a great shampoo

My scalp is always quite sensitive, and if i don't use a anti dandruff shampoo my scalp goes very flaky and itchy, so whenever i wash my hair i always use head and shoulders.

I dye my hair so i decided to use some of the colour care shampoo which keeps your dyed hair looking fresh and vibrant but also getting rid of your itchy flaky scalp. It says on the back of the bottle that it takes a few washes for the shampoo tot start working but i find it works from the first wash.

You can buy this from most supermarkets and other places such as superdrug and boots, you can find them on special offers such as 2 for £5, but mostly they sell for a round 1.60 for a small bottle and £3 for a larger bottle. They come in white bottles with a dark blue lid which it rounded on the left hand side. Each different type of head and shoulders has a different colour and this particular bottle has red in a wavy type of pattern on the front.

You don't need to much of this shampoo before it works up in to a nice lather, leave it on your hair for about a minute if you want for it to really set in, and then rise it off and follow by using the same conditioner.

I use this shampoo nearly every time i wash my hair, unless i run out unexpectedly! I would recommend this if you have dandruff or even just for taking care of your dyed hair!

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Not a great buy, unless you have a SERIOUS dandruff problem

        -Introduction-

I have allergies to EVERYTHING, you name it hayfever, bees and wasps... the list is endless. I have quite itchy skin in the summer, just from contact with pollen.
Also over the past year I have dyed my hair many times and colours for a modelling job.
Well just to say my scalp and hair have take quite a battering!
So hair and scalp therapy needed! Everybody knows if its dandruff= head and shoulders. I had my reservations as dandruff from hayfever is more itching than flaky skin but I gave it a go.....

        -Positives-

The product feels quality, I mean this is kind of reflected in the price compared to value ranges, but still a qaulity product.

The product lathers easily in the hand and you only need a small amount compared to other brands. I have a bob hair cut so about a 10p peice is fine.

I did see a reduction in the flakiness of the scalp which with coca-cola coloured hair is usually quite noticable and I am self-conscious. This was really great for getting rid of dandruff.

        -Negatives-

However it didnt help the itching, in fact I think the product made it worse. It is quite strong and for the sensitive types among us, probably stay clear of for everyday use. It's just too strong for my skin not to react too.

I didnt see a noticable difference in the hair colour, to be honest. I have mousy brown hair which is dyed nearly black, but no difference is the shine or quality of the hair. Maybe the conditioner has better results.

The product stings SO MUCH if you happen to get even a little bit in your eye. Its well... eye-watering!! This is just not acceptable these days, no other brand I have used does this.

The product made my hair feel quite greasy afterwards, like when you accidently leave conditioner in. I found I had to wash my hair more frequently.

        -Conclusion-

Great for a one off to blast away that annoying dandruff, but doesnt get to the root of the problem. The product is so strong it can make sensitive skin worse.
        Wouldn't recommend for daily use.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

Nice, affordable shampoo, which helps calm the scalp

I have quite dry skin, so this is also reflects on my scalp. I bought this along with the conditioner. One thing I would say about the packaging, that it is quite similar to each other and as a glasses wearer ,it is sometimes difficult to distinguish between the two in the shower.
It says' that it will improve your scalps condition even from the first wash' and I have to agree with it. The shampoo has a nice fragrance and I only need a small amount ( I have quite short hair, so only use the size of about a 10p) and it lathers up lovely. Be careful not to get it in to your eyes, as it stings like mad ( quickly wash it out with clean water).
I am very happy with the results. I don't know about the claim that it helps keep your colour, but it certainly does not dull or strip the colour, which can happen with these types of shampoo. There is a result straight away, my scalp stopped itching and was less flakey. I used this for just over a week, along with the conditioner and then moved on to another shampoo, but I always keep a bottle of this handy and go back to it , if my scalp starts to become irritated again.

        Advantages

        Disadvantages

        A bathroom essential

Recently I used a different shampoo on my hair which ended up severely aggravating my scalp, making it very dry, flaky and itchy. Immediately I chucked the offending shampoo out and visited Boots to see what I could get to clear my scalp up.

Now everyone has heard of the anti dandruff products of Head & Shoulders in one way or another and in recent years they have expanded their product range quite substantially. So with this in mind I decided to give the shampoo a go - anything to clear up my scalp and get things back to normal. The next choice was which kind to choose. I mulled over the options and decided to go with the colour care version as my hair is coloured (I would have gone with the Sensitive Scalp version but they had run out and I was desperate and itchy!) I went straight home to use the products - I also purchased the conditioner as well for a double whammy.

The 200ml bottle claimed to have a gentle PH balanced formula suitable for everyday use - perfect. This colour protecting shampoo helps to maintain the look of your hair colour keeping it vibrant while tackling the cause of dandruff and relieving the dry, itchy and tight scalp.

The shampoo smelt pleasant but not over fragranced and was cream in colour with a good consistency, not too thick or runny. The shampoo produced a nice lather and was easy to use and felt like it was really cleaning my scalp and hair. I followed this with the conditioner and dried my hair. My scalp felt better but it probably took a little over a week to clear it up completely. My hair felt fantastic and nicely fragranced, the shampoo left the hair clean and manageable with a healthy look and colour.

I am now converted to Head & Shoulders and always keep a bottle handy along with my regular shampoo.

The shampoo is available in 200ml and 400ml sizes and other varieties like citrus fresh, classic clean and sensitive scalp as well as complementary conditioners.

You can purchase it in most chemists, Boots, Superdrug and major supermarkets and the cost for a 200ml bottle is approximately £1.89, although you quite often get it on offer so watch out.

I cannot recommend this product highly enough, this is now a bathroom essential and keeps my hair and scalp healthy.

        Why wouldn't you try it?
