Review of the Head Jog Paddle hairbrush
Hairbrushes and I have a love hate relationship I'm afraid. I have waist length, unruly, wavy hair which tangles at the drop of a hat. Although my hair is quite thick in that I have a lot of it, the actual individual hairs are very fine. Over the years I have tried many different types of brush with varying rates of success.
This Head Jog paddle brush is one of my better experiments!
**The Hair Brush**
Paddle brushes have been around for decades and are ideal for most types of hair.
My Head Jog brush is a fairly basic design, a rectangular, paddle shaped, slightly domed brush bed set on an ergonomically designed handle for easy grip & maximum control. The bristle bed is fairly broad and you can cover quite a bit of hair with each brushstroke. My brush is black in colour and cost me around £5 from a local independent chemist shop. I believe these brushes also come in a variety of different colours.
The blurb on the packaging of my brush states that the brush is 'Edged with ceramic to create a smooth polished effect with added natural shine and aid against static build-up'.
I cannot honestly say that I have noticed any great difference in the shininess or smoothness of my hair since starting to use this brush, but the static I often experience certainly does seem a little reduced.
What does impress me about the hair brush is the fact that it detangles my hair quickly and easily with very little tugging or discomfort. For me that is a real bonus!
I do not blow dry my hair; I simply shampoo and allow it to dry naturally. My daughter tells me that this style of brush is excellent for adding volume to your hair when blow drying, but this is something I really wish to avoid, extra volume that it, I have more than enough of that, thank you very much! So whilst I will have to take her word on the subject, I felt it worth mentioning this as I know many people do blow dry.
**My Thoughts and Conclusion**
I am very pleased with my brush, the paddle design cuts through tangled hair effectively and quickly, the brush is comfortable to hold and it is not too heavy, an issue I have had with other makes in the past.
I don't feel that aesthetically this is particularly cutting edge styling, but to be honest, in a hair brush, who really cares about looks, efficiency is the main concern to my mind.
If you are looking for a reasonably priced, effective hair brush, I would recommend the Head Jog (pronounced Hedgehog) paddle brush, the name makes me smile, and the brush works well doing exactly what I expect of a hair brush.
These brushes are available on line and from various High Street stores and hairdressing salon chains.
Thank you for reading.
