Advantages: Nice smell, not a bad price
Disadvantages: Makes your hair unmanageable, fizzy and fluffy
Head and Shoulders Anti-Dandruff Shampoo for dry/damaged hair
I got this as a free sample. Just a small bottle of Anti-Dandruff Shampoo Soothing, that contains 75ml. I thought this would be perfect to take when I go on holiday. Get rid of my dandruff but also a handy size to pack. But did I have perfect hair after using it?
Head and Shoulders is world-wide and made by Procter and Gamble. They have 9 different products. You can see all these different ones on their website. www.headandshoulders.co.uk

Head and Shoulders Citrus Fresh

Head and Shoulders Extra Volume
Head and Shoulders Soothing
Head and Shoulders Sensitive
They have different sized bottles as well. The little travel bottle that I got as a free sample contains 75ml and costs 99p. Then there’s 200ml bottle, which costs between £1.50-£1.90 and also the 400ml bottle, which costs between £3.00-£4.00.
What exactly is Dandruff you may ask? Dandruff caused by the over-activity of the fungus Malassezia, which lives on everyone’s hair. It speeds up the normal shedding of dead skin and causes those horrible flakes.
Back to the product. So I thought brilliant. It was free. Let’s use it.
The look of the bottle. Well, it’s white with a blue flip-up top. It’s closes and opens really when, which is important especially when you’re travelling as you don’t want all the shampoo going on your clothes. It has a label stuck to the front saying in the left-hand corner For Frequent use. Head and Shoulders. Then the logo and under that Anti-Dandruff Shampoo, Soothing, for dry scalp.
The label on the back says, “Our soothing formula helps protect your scalp’s natural moisture balance to help prevent dry and itchy scalp and give you great looking hair.
Gentle pH-balanced formula is suitable for everyday use
Apply to scalp and hair, ensuring full coverage from root to tip. Gently massage in. Rinse and repeat if desired. For best results, use every time you shampoo your hair.”
Then it gives you a list of ingredients, how much the bottle contains and contact details.
I flip up the top and squirts about 50p of the liquid into my hand. It’s white and creamy. It smells sweet, fresh and clean like. It lathers up well and I follow the bottle’s instructions. I cover my hair from root to tip. I have very long hair so to use two blob the size of 50p. I rinse the shampoo out of my hair and use my normal conditioner straight after. Then I blow-dry my hair and it’s gone absolutely frizzy, fluffy and unmanageable. I try and straighten it but no avail. All day, I try to get my hair to co-operated but still it won’t so I give up. I put it in a ponytail, go down to the local shop where I’m staying and luckily they have my normal shampoo. I wash my hair again and it goes like normal.
To give the shampoo another chance, as it may have been the water in the place I was staying at. I doubted it but still I tried. Same effects as last time. I looked like a fluffy poodle.
I use this now for shaving with because that’s all its fit for. I’d never buy Head and Shoulders even if it was at 1p a bottle. I was so dissatisfied with the product.
I didn’t even give it the chance to get rid of my dandruff it was that bad. Luckily for me, it’s quite rare that I have it.
Overall Comment
Don’t bother buying it. It’s smells nice, it’s not at a bad price but what’s the point when your hair becomes fizzy, fluffy and unmanageable. I’d recommend anyone with dandruff to find another dandruff shampoo unless you want to look like a fluffed up poodle.
If you can want to contact them, you can by post and telephone.
