Advantages: Shampoo does wonders for damaged hair and its appearance
Disadvantages: Strips the hair of colour
I must start this review by saying that I won't be reviewing the head and shoulders as a dandruff-eliminating product. Luckily enough I have never suffered from dandruff so I have never needed to buy a specially formulated shampoo. The reason I purchased the dry/ damaged hair shampoo was to eliminate hair colour. I shall explain.
Being a huge fan of crazy colour, my hair tends to change shade by the week. One week I may have fire red parts and the next week a shocking pink. In order to use crazy colour on the hair, it must be pre-lightened first (bleached). The rules are the whiter the hair is once pre-lightened the more vibrant the crazy colour will be. Bleaching is no good for the hair and it dries it out very badly. When using bleach you must ensure that hair is conditioned every time and a treatment will also help. This is the first reason for buying head and shoulders. The shampoo is fantastic. I have used it alone for a few days with no conditioner (for the sake of this review) and I am so impressed. My hair is soft and looks in great condition, it is also 100% more manageable.
Reason number 2 for buying:
I know from past experience that head and shoulders shampoo is no good for coloured hair at all. It acts as a stripper. If you have vibrant shades to your hair that you wish to keep then never use this shampoo. There is a different variety available for coloured hair but still it doesn't do much to help prolong hair colour. On this occasion the shampoo is doing exactly as I wish. I feel that I am getting a little too mature to be sporting the crazy colour look. I would like the days to be gone that I am asked for id because I don't look old enough. I have decided to rid the crazy colour now and opt for a more natural look. In my new bid of natural hair, head and shoulders is doing wonders in stripping my pink to a blonder colour that will be easier to colour over more naturally.
The description:
The head and shoulder for dry and damaged hair is now sporting a new look and name of hydrating smooth and silky. The bottle is white with a blue lid. It is very basic and the one I have is a 200ml size.
The product:
The shampoo inside is very thick and white. It doesn't really have that much of a smell to be honest. When shampooing only a small amount is needed for a rich lather. As soon as I began rinsing my hair I could tell that even without conditioner my hair seemed fairly tangle free. After my hair was dried I was so impressed. After just one wash my hair was so soft and silky and the condition appeared so much better even on the bleached parts that usually look a bit dry on the ends.
Instructions:
I use the shampoo daily and give my hair one wash. If shampooing less regularly I would recommend 2 shampoos. The shampoo is formulated to hydrate the scalp and coat frizzy hair to create a smooth look. It is obviously also created to combat dandruff problems.
The cost:
I picked my shampoo up for £1.00 a week or so ago on the promotion at the co-op. Generally I think this costs around £2.50.
Overall:
This is a gorgeous shampoo. I like how it feels luxurious and works so well in improving the look of dry/damaged hair. Unfortunately for people who would like to keep there colour lively, then this isn't for you. For people with a natural hair colour, you can't go wrong.
Summary: This is a great shampoo for people with un-coloured hair
