The shampoo is described as follows. "The original anti-dandruff shampoo which thoroughly cleanses your hair and cares for your scalp. Leaves you with a clean, fresh, scent that lasts and soft, manageable hair. Works best with Classic Clean Conditioner. Gentle formula suitable for everyday use."
The ingredients are Aqua, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine, Glutamic Acid, Dimethicone, Parfum, Zinc Pyrithione, Phenoxyethanol, Benzyl Alcohol, Citric Acid, Sodium Chloride, Linalool, Magnesium Nitrate and Sodium Polynaphthalenesulfonate.
The optical design of a Head & Shoulders packaging sets itself apart from the competition and stands pretty well out of the range of shampoos on the shelves. Personally, I am also, if need be, even a little more or thereafter. Sealing the plastic bottle does not exist and therefore I can move with a slight pressure to open up its lid easy. To get inside, it is worthwhile to turn the package and store these as best for later use at hand. Many different I had already tried, but only one was able to really convince. After washing, I like to feel the unique sensation of pure hair before I dry rub them with a towel. Since my hair is in top form I notice especially when I have my hair blow-dried. So also I number myself because one, in the great flood of satisfied users, as it showed my short research to this report. The manufacturer promises for once no longer in his advertising, as such it can actually hold. A little sparkle I could imagine it, yet incredibly smooth it is by using the Classic Clean shampoos definitely.
I do not suffer from dandruff, but my partner does and therefore the only shampoo he will use is Head and Shoulders, so there is always a bottle in our bathroom which I have used a few times when I have ran out of shampoo, or when I used to stay over at his before we lived together.
This isn't the cheapest shampoo on the market and he pays £4.99 for a 450ml bottle in Semi chem. I always think this is too expensive but as he keeps his hair very short the bottle does him a long time . He also get's dandruff whenever he uses anything else so in his eyes it is worth the price.
The bottle is white with a blue lid and blue writing. The shampoo states that the research is validated by the British skin foundation. The back of the bottle tells you that it is a Hydrazinc formula and will tackle dandruff from the first wash helping relieve dryness and tight scalp.
The lid is an easy click action. The shampoo is white in colour and quite thick. When I have used this I find I need quite a lot to wash my shoulder length hair. I love the smell of this finding it a really fresh clean smell, which lingers well on hair after washing.
The shampoo goes into a good lather but I find I need to rinse a lot to feel like it is completely out of my hair. This isn't ideal now I am busy with the baby and usually give myself about ten minutes in total to shower and dress, as I much prefer products which rinse quickly and easily.
My hair feels and looks soft when I use this as long as it is only on the odd occasion. I once used this daily for a week while we were on holiday and I had only packed one type of shampoo to save space. When this happened,I found that after the 3rd day my hair began to feel and look very heavy and lifeless and was difficult to style. It lost its shine and felt greasy instead of soft.
I will be happy to continue to use this as a one off and would try it if I ever got dandruff, but it is not a shampoo I would use on a regular basis and doesn't really suit my hair.
I never fail to be surprised by the amount of people who love Head & Shoulders because I personally consider it to be one of the most harsh shampoos available to the point that I will no longer use it in spite of my husband keeping a bottle in the bathroom.
It smells fresh and clean, lathers up to an almost luxury level and can help fight the problem of dandruff. I am of the opinion it is harsh enough to burn off dandruff and disguise that with claims of medicated shampoo.
It makes my hair very dry and wiry, quite unlike the usual texture of my very normal hair. It does not relieve the itching of my scalp when I am suffering a flare up and my hair and scalp are left with a very unhealthy feel after even a short period of use.
My hair is harder to tame and style after washing when I've used Head & Shoulders than when I use other shampoos.
I have always liked the aroma of Head & Shoulders Classic Clean, it's comforting but is that that always leads me to believe it is going to be a gentle option when in reality it is more harsh than even the cheapest shampoo I have used.
Head & Shoulders provides a good lasting clean so if it suits your hair better it could be an option. The cost has reduced over time as a 250ml bottle is now priced at £2.99 where I remember a higher cost when I used to buy it regularly.
Head & Shoulders products are effective. I have used most of their range over the years and have never been so disappointed with a product that I haven''''t finished the bottle. I have only given this one three stars due to the "2 in 1" aspect, not it''''s effectiveness in treating dandruff.
This product got rid of my dandruff, I know this is true because when I stopped using it for a couple of weeks the symptoms returned, they then disappeared again when I started using it again.
It is a very pleasant way of treating dandruff - it smells nice, unlike some medicated products, and is much better at caring for your hair than some- it isn''''t harsh. It didn''''t dry out my hair, which is very long and therefore prone to getting dry, especially on the ends.
The shampoo is effective - my hair feels squeaky clean after using it, and the effect lasts: My hair does not get greasy again for 2 or 3 days (about normal for me). It doesn''''t make my hair feel heavy or like a residue has been left on it.
However, the conditioner element is definitely not as effective as using a separate conditioner. After the first few washes with this product I started using a conditioner as well. In my experience this is true of all 2 in 1 products, not just Head and Shoulders. If your hair only needs a light conditioner you will probably be okay, but with my long, dry hair I need something a bit more intense.
In terms of value for money this product is pretty good and often on special offer.
PRICE AND WHERE TO BUY IT FROM
The item can be purchased from most major retailers in the UK, and prices range from £2.70-£3.40 for a 700ml bottle - depending on location and promotions etc.
As always with the Head and Shoulders range, you pay a little extra but are rewarded with an extremely high quality product - this one being a two-in-one anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner. This particular product has a subtle scent which doesn't linger on you as such, but is just enough to leave you with the feeling of being thoroughly clean. Once used the product leaves your hair feeling extremely soft and clean, as well as completely free of dandruff - though I have used this product for some years now and can't remember the last time I did have dandruff - which is a good thing right?
Active Ingredients: Pyrithione Zinc (1%, Anti-Dandruff)
Inactive Ingredients: Water, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Glycol Distearate, Zinc Carbonate, Sodium Chloride, Sodium Xylenesulfonate, Dimethicone, Cocamidopropyl Betaine, Fragrance, Sodium Benzoate, Guar Hydroxypropyltrimonium Chloride, Magnesium Carbonate Hydroxide, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Blue 1, Red 33
I use this every morning when showering, and as a result my hair feels extremely clean and soft to the touch - as well as being totally dandruff free (as it says on the bottle). The beauty of this product is that you don't need to use much of it at all to ensure adequate coverage (granted I am a bloke to have short hair) and literally an amount similar in size to a two-pence piece does the trick for me. Method of using is funnily enough the same for any shampoo or conditioner, rinse your hair, add the product and massage in thoroughly, then rinse out of your hair again - simples.
One downside is that if you do buy a 700ml bottle (it is available in smaller quantities), then it is rather cumbersome to use in the shower given its size and weight, though the flip top lid makes for easy dispending once you can pick the thing up!
The warning on the bottle states avoid contact with eyes, as with any shampoo or conditioner, and it does sting a bit if you do get some in there - I haven't experiences any other effects other than the short period of stinging and redness - but still would recommend avoiding if at all possible!
Apart from the obvious benefit of not buying two separate products for shampoo and conditioning, not to mention the lack of a need to effectively wash your hair twice in the shower, this product in my eyes is one of the best available in the range - and as mentioned above I have used it for years, and will continue to use it for years to come. Five out of five from me!
I never ever have suffered from dandruff......well that was the case up until recently actually. Having black hair any dandruff I do have can be seen and whilst I'm not having a snow storm on my head any speck of white dead skin can be seen which sent me running to Boots to see what I could get to help!
Of course I am aware of the brand that is Head & Shoulders though I admit before purchasing this bottle I hadn't tried it out before as I'd never felt the need to in the past. There are several fragrances now of Head & Shoulders but I plumped for the classic (original) fragrance of this.
200ml white and dark blue plastic container that has a flip-top lid to the top of it concealing a small hole. On the front if the bottle I am told that it is Head & Shoulders 2 in 1 Anti-Dandruff Shampoo & Conditioner 'Classic Clean' and that it is meant for frequent use. On the back of the bottle other information listed includes being a bit about the product, how to use it, ingredients are listed, the size is stated (as I've listed already) and contact details for the manufacturer are given (Procter & Gamble). Nice enough bottle, easy to handle and dispense etc and of course it is informative as it needs to be.
A Bit About The Product According To The information Given On The Back of The Bottle:
Our shampoo & conditioning system fights dandruff and leaves your hair clean and conditioned without buildup.
Immediate action: Head & Shoulders zinc pyrithone-based formula starts working on the cause of dandruff from the 1st wash.
Long lasting efficiency: The best way of using Head & Shoulders to eliminate dandruff and prevent it recurring is to use it every time you shampoo your hair.
Well all you do with this 2 in 1 is to use it as you would any other shampoo of course! Wet hair, lather rinse and repeat if desired!
You don't need very much at all of this off white creamy feeling shampoo and conditioner at all. It feels soft and rich on the hands and has a really fresh and clean fragrance to it. It doesn't have a distinguishable fragrance its just gently sweet really and I really do like the smell of it and feel that this is rather a unisex product for that reason.
It lathers up with total ease and rinses out with it too and I always do lather rinse and repeat due to wanting to make sure my hair really is clean every time I wash it.
My hair is left feeling clean and with a nice smell to it for a good few hours. It leaves my hair looking clean looking soft and feeling it too. Hair is left in really good condition after using this and I didn't really think it would work so well as its a 2 in 1 product after all.....but I hold my hands up..... I was wrong!
As for dandruff.....well I noted a difference from first use as promised on the back of the bottle. It was certainly almost eradicated after using it just the once but after 2 washes my scalp felt soothed and white bits completely vanished into thin air.
I rate this product very highly indeed and will always now purchase this 'just in case' in the future. It leaves my hair feeling and looking clean, hair feels soft and shiny and my hair smells fabulous! A great product!
Available in all supermarkets etc and costs about £2.99 a bottle.
**** Introduction ****
My shower has recently gave up to ghost and I have been washing my hair in the sink every morning, This was not a problem for the first week but since my hair and scalp have been suffering with dandruff.
I have never suffered with dandruff before, so buying and anti dandruff shampoo was all new to me.
**** Head & Shoulders ****
Head and shoulders have been a well known anti dandruff brand for years, so this is the one I auto matically went for.
As my hair is short I dont tend to use separate shampoo and conditioners so I opted to buy the two in version of this anti dandruff shampoo.
The shampoo came in a 250ml bottle and cost me £1.89 from tesco, which is much cheaper than I expected.
The shampoo in very thick and does not lather up very well untill you add water to it, so this is something to remember as you dont need to use as much shapoo as you first think.
**** My Views ****
After using this for tha last week my dandruff seems to have gone, which is great as I can now retrun to my mormal shampoo.
I was not very impressed with the shampoo itself, but I persisted and eventually it did remove all of the dandruff before it got any worse.
I recommend this if you have a dandruff problem, as it really did work but it did take time.
