Advantages: cleans, refeshes
Disadvantages: smell does last long
Alberto Balsam Shampoo - flavour of the month ......( see later ) I?m a regular run of the mill bloke . I?ve just turned 40 , married with kids , and no longer on the pull . I?m old enough not to want the latest ?Beckham? style , but not too old that I want a pony tail , a statement that says ?I?m losing it , but I still got enough on top to do this !? . I?m also going grey , but ain?t that vain, that Grecian 3000 ( yep I?d need it that strong if it existed ) is desired / used . Going grey is a natural process that I?m happy to live with . Anyway , when commented on , I just say it?s natural highlights , highlights that women pay 10?s of pounds to have put in ( although maybe not grey ). If I really wanted to give a bold statement , then surely I?d have to go for those purple rinses the old biddies are often seen sporting ( hmmm , I wonder if they?d suit me ? - imagine naturally black hair , coupled with the old purple rinsed grey , on the dance floor of the local club , what a pulling feature NOT ) . Enough of the waffle , so I have hair , and it needs washing , but do I choose the shampoo we use - NO , leave it to the better half , they know about these things . But what a choice they have , shampoo for fine , coloured , permed , frizzy , normal and greasy hair , and more than that if you care to go in for it . Not content wih that , there are some many brands to choose , you start to think , why not go bald and solve the problem ! OK , so in our household , the shampoo changes like the wind . At the moment its Alberto Balsam ( 99p in ASDA { 2 plugs in one , I want commission } ) . Probably chosen as it smells nice . Next week no doubt , another will be on our shelves , and probably have something to do with a new fresher fragrance ,or even new improved bottle - GOD , women are so gullible when it comes to selling gimmics ! Now what really gets me , about shampoo , is the list of ingredienst used - do you actu
ally know what your putting on your head ? Take this Alberto Balsam - I?ve deliberately omitted the ?flavour? for now , check out these ingredients , and see if you can work it out ! : Ingredients ... Aqua , Sodium Laureth Sulfate , Cocamidopropyl Betain , Sodium Chloride , Glycerin , Jasminum Officinale , Aloe Barbadensis , Panthenol , Polyquaternium-7 , Tetrasodium EDTA , Parfum , Citric Acid , Methylchloroisothiazolinone , Methylisothiazolinone , Magnesium Nitrate , Magnesium Chloride , Proplyene Glycol , Sodium Benzonate , Pottasium Sorbate , Methylparaben , SorbicAcid , Triethanolamine , Hexylene Glycol , C1 60730 . ( Oh heck , my spell checker is going to love those words ! , I wonder what words it?ll suggest as replacements ? ) Add to that the claims on the bottle of : ?Free your mind and spirit with the fresh from the garden fragrance of xxx Herbal Shampoo for all hairtypes . Specially blended with natural ingredients like aloe and jasmine to refresh and revitalise your hair for a beautiful healthy looking shine . With scrumpious fragrances and natural plant extracts your hair will smell as good as it feels. xxx Herbal Shampoo will ; gently cleanse , refresh and moisturise , restore shine , strengthen with Pro-Vitamin B5? { to be Pro , they're has to anti-vitamin , but is there such ? } Now , I?m no fool . Aqua = water ; Parfum = perfume ; Sodium Chloride = salt , but hey there are several acids here , and if I?m correct , in a more natural state , Magnesium and Potassium are used in both explosives and farmyard fertiliser . If you remove the parfum , what will you have ? Removethe water , and set i alight ! And they say the above is good for your hair ? As for the flavour , well from the ingredients you may have gleemed Aloe and Jasmine extracts , but the flavour is entitled ? Feel Me Freesia ? - so where?s the Fressia I ask ? The above comments aren?t made solely against Albert
o Balsam , but all such products in general . Ok legislation requires that all ingredients are listed , but why not in English ,or are they scared that seeing them in an understandable language would frighten us off for life ? Oh , and as for use , yes it smells really nice . But the smell doesn?t last that long - five minutes on the town and its gone . Of course , if we go by those ads , we should all be swinging our heads of hair , and smelling each others bonces . As for softness and manageability , yes its softish , and I can put a comb through it , so it must be good . As for split ends , how can you tell ??? With regards shine , I don?t think I stood out from the crowd , so maybe not . As for strengthening , well my hairs still fell out a bi when drying ( must be those acids ! ) . So do I recommend it ? I suppose so , after all my hair was cleaner after using it . But the smell didn?t do anything for my mates or the opposit sex ( yep , no ooohs and aaahs ) which is just as well ( on both cases ) , but hey what do I know , I?m just a run of the mill bloke . I?m 40 , married with kids.............. AND FINALLY , with regards those selling gimmics , it comes in a tall 400ml clear bottle ( looks more than / better value than a short dumpy bottle , that may have cellulite God forbid ) , which has a pretty picture of some fressia on it . as for the shampoo , a pleasant hazy blue colour , with the texture of non lumpy gravy ( now thats what you women reviewers out there expect of a males perspective eh ! )
