Advantages: Light conditioning for daily use, gorgeous smell, good price
Disadvantages: Not good for dry/damaged hair
Q: Right then, here we go. So, tell me the name of this product which you are reviewing. A: It’s called ‘Herbal Essences 2-in-1 Moisture-Balancing Shampoo for Normal Hair.’ Q: Bit of a mouthful, that! Who makes it? A: It’s made by Clairol, which is a trademark of a company called Bristol-Myers Co Ltd, of Uxbridge, UK. Q: Okay…now, you said ‘2-in-1’. What does that mean, exactly? A: As well as being an excellent shampoo, the product also contains a light conditioner, which will leave you hair feeling soft and manageable, as well as imparting a healthy shine. Q: So, no need to use a separate conditioner? A: No, not necessary at all. Q: Sounds good. No need to take two bottles into the shower…(Heh, heh!) A: Could we get on please? Q: Err…yes…sorry. Please explain ‘moisture-balancing.’ A: Well, some shampoos are quite harsh and can strip your hair of its natural oils, leaving it tangled and frizzy. Others can be too heavy on the conditioner, leaving your hair lank and dull, with a heavy build-up of the product. Herbal Essences 2-in-1 strikes the right balance by leaving your hair clean and refreshed, with just the right amount of conditioning to eliminate tangles and restore softness and shine. Q: I’m impressed! I notice the shampoo is called HERBAL essences. So what herbs does it contain? A: The product contains lavender, jasmine and aloe. Q: Ah, I know lavender. My Gran keeps sprigs of it in her drawers. A: Quite.Lavender is a very popular herb in beauty circles. It is best known for its relaxing properties, but it is also said to be antibacterial and antiseptic. And, of course, it has a wonderful scent. Q: Jasmine? A: Also thought to have a calming and relaxing effect. Jasmine has a lovely, sweet smell. Q: Aloe? Aloe, aloe, aloe?
> A: Very amusing! Aloe has long been used in beauty treatments. It’s said that Queen Cleopatra attributed her beauty to the use of aloe. The leaves of the aloe vera plant are wonderfully aromatic. Might I also add that all the herbs used in Herbal Essences 2-in-1 are grown under certified organic conditions. Clairol guarantees that no petro-chemicals or pesticides are used on their herbs. They are of the highest quality and come from sustainable sources. There are no animal by-products used in the manufacture of this product. Q: I’m glad to hear that. I try to avoid products that have exploited animals in their manufacture. A: Furthermore, the base of this product is pure mountain spring water…no…I don’t know which mountain….. sorry! Q: Not good enough! No, only joking. So, I imagine this shampoo smells quite nice? A: It’s gorgeous! It has a soft, fresh fragrance, predominantly of lavender, as you might expect. It also lathers up beautifully…you only need a small amount poured into the palm of your hand to create a rich foam. You should work the lather all over your hair, using your fingertips to massage your scalp and around your hairline. Don’t forget to rinse thoroughly. Q: No need to shampoo twice? A: Not unless your hair is particularly grubby. I wash my hair every day with Herbal Essences, so I do only lather up once. It is important to rinse well, even though Clairol say that this shampoo will not leave build-up, which is a cause of dull-looking hair. Q:Is there anything else you feel my readers should know about Herbal Essences 2-in-1? A: Well, they might like to know that the bottles the product comes in are made from 25% post-consumer recycled plastic, and the bottles are fully recyclable themselves. Q: It just gets better. Now then…down to the nitty-gritty…how much will we have to shell out for this gr
eat product? A: Not as much as you might expect, in fact, although it does pay to shop around. In Boots the shampoo is on sale at £2.19 for the 250ml bottle, but I bought mine from Wilko’s at the remarkably low price of £1.14…a real bargain! Q: Can I conclude then, that you are happy to endorse this product and recommend it to my legions of readers? (I live in hope!) A: Absolutely. I am very impressed with Herbal Essences 2-in-1 and will certainly be using it again. Q: Thank you. I have just one last question…. A: Fire away! Q: Can I borrow your shampoo, please?
