Advantages: Smells nice, leaves hair soft and shiny enough!
Disadvantages: It doesn't quite do what it says on the tin!
I've been buying this brand of conditioner (and it's matching shampoo) for around a year or more, and the particular type 'Ignite my colour' for about four months, and it's only now that I sit down and decide to review it, that I'm not sure why I'm still using it! There have to be better products out there for my hair type!
**Bottlin' it**
Another thing that I have realised is that I've purchased this product almost religiously (with a few special offers/fancy treats inbetween) since the bottle changed from boring old conditioner bottle shaped bottle to fancy, curved sexy bottle shaped bottle! Just goes to show how the packaging can influence you! I love this bottle though- nice easy press down top which flips the other side open- no slipping about with soapy fingers and difficult nozzles. The downside is- as the opening is at the side- if your husband uses it, leaves it open, then knocks it over into the bath and leaves it there (they all do this right?), you find a big puddle of conditioner to clean up the next day! It's a lovey bright girly pink, which is always a bonus for your bathroom aesthetics.
**Promises Promises**
I won't go into how to use this conditioner, as there's nothing in the instructions that will shock you! The conditioner claims all manner of vibrancy, shine and long lasting colour. Does it deliver? Well, maybe the shine part. I'm a dyed scarlet colour (variants of) and to be fair, this colour doesn't and never will last for months. I get a few weeks of decent vibrance after I dye it, but no product that I've tried in my four years of wearing my hair red, has worked any staying power miracles, and this conditioner (and shampoo) is no exception. Red hair dye will often last a lot longer on the shower curtain/floor/towels/sponges/pillows than it will on your head.
**Fruity**
The smell is very strong, long lasting and fruity. I quite like it- it's more berry fruity and sweet than perfumey, to the point that some may find it a little sickly. The consistency of it is lovely- nice and thick, which in my opinion is always better than a conditioner that comes out thinly, as you just know it will leave your hair like straw! It's easy to apply and work through, and easy to rinse out. When I ring my hair out afterwards, it feels nice and conditioned. After drying (sometimes naturally, sometimes with a dryer) my hair is always soft and shiney- so full marks there!
**But...**
It does weigh my hair down a bit. I have fine, thin, stright hair- so it's difficult to know whether to use volumising products or colour products- a gap in the market maybe?
**Overall**
It's not a bad product all in all. Like I say, it doesn't create the vibrance and give the exceptional staying power that it claims, but in its defence, nor does anything else I've tried! However, the conditioner is fit for purpose in a conditioner sense, but don't expect passers by to whip out their sunglasses due to the dazzle of your bright, vibrant hair a month after you've dyed it! A nice shine and a good soft feel is the best you can hope for. However, do bear in mind the type of hair that I've told you I have. Maybe if you have thick curly black hair- you may have a different story! The reason I stick with this product is out of familiarity and laziness! It's a reasonable mid ranged price and you can often find it half price or BOGOF.
Incidentally, if any of you lovely ladies have a recommendation for me and my hair type, I'd love to hear it!
Summary: Good value, but it won't blow you away.
